This cache is the third in a series of caches we have placed along the lower portion of Indian Creek. This portion of Indian Creek spans from the spill way of the Mill Run reservoir to the Youghiogheny River, and has some of the most beautiful scenery to be found in the Laurel Highlands. Our family has spent countless hours along this part of Indian Creek, and we believe this area was made for caching. There are several ways to get to this valley, but we ask that you please use only the lower Indian Creek Valley trail to access this cache. Coming in any other way may cause problems that we would like to avoid. To get to the parking area, turn off of route 381 near Mill Run onto Camp Christian Road and go about .6 miles. Then, make a right turn into a small gravel parking area. Please do not block the gate at the bridge. From the parking area, follow the trail (biking may be the preferred method). There will be a fork in the trail a little way past the gated bridge, take the left road for the trail to get to the cache area. There are 4 more caches in this series as well as Quest Master’s Hampton cache. So, after your find, continue on down through this magnificent valley and enjoy your day!

Gps reception in the area may be spotty, THE CACHE IS ON THE ICV TRAIL SIDE OF INDIAN CREEK, NOT THE HAWKINS HOLLOW ROAD SIDE OF THE CREEK.

2nd on the trip was this little beauty, I remember swimming here when I was a teenager. Hadn't thought about this place in YEARS!! Looked around awhile, then thought about it, and made the grab. This area in so scenic, it's a shame more people don't come in here. Just as I re-stashed the goods, we hear some thunder, and the wind is screaming, and I'm waiting for a tree to come crashing down! All of a sudden it's raining so hard we can't hear each other. We take cover under some pines and after about 20 mins. of this downpour we start to get wet, so we figure, what the heck, let's keep going for ICV #4.

This was our final stop of the day. We found our way down to the cache and it only took us a little while to find it. There were some young muggles across the creek swimming but we were able to get the cache without being seen. We took it a ways up the hill to take a look inside. We decided to wait it out a bit before rehiding the cache and we ended up running into the 4MRnutz crew checking up on their caches. We had a nice chat with them and they told us a lot about the area. We enjoyed the visit very much. This is such a beautiful place, the hike in along the creek is so peaceful.
If you're thinking about doing this series of caches, we highly recommend them. We took a TB and left two mini Golden Books.

Fifth of several 4MRnutz caches found today as Nellsnake #1, 2, and 4 decided to take a ride along the ICV trail. It was a beautiful day for a ride and for caching. Nellsnake #2 and 4 had bailed out before we got to this one, so Nellsnake #1 went solo. Swimming and fishing muggles abounded in the area of the cache, so I had to be a bit stealthy. Fortunately, I was able to find the cache in a likely spot without too much ado. Neat area for swimming with a swinging rope--very cool. I signed in the logbook at about 1:30 p.m. but made no trades. Thanks for showing me another cool spot along the ICV trail!

We initially skipped this one and went for #4 because my newfangled GPS mapped it on the other side of the creek in an area that was crawling wit muggles. We didn't have the cache page to get the clue so we really weren't sure what was going on here. We ultimately decided to try it from the trail side of the creek because I didn't recall anybody saying that it was necessary to cross the creek to get at any of the caches. If it turned out to be on the other side, we would simply drive down the Hawkins Hollow route on another day and get it from there. Needless to say, we had a hard time finding the cache without the hint. I ultimately found it by caching sense and dumb luck. We were probably fortunate that I had been to exactly this spot on a few occasions when the bridge was still here. It was a rickety thing constructed out of railroad rails but you could get across the creek on it if you were daring. The cable handrails were basically gone and the spaces between the rails were big enough to fit your feet between but we ventured across anyway because we were too young and stupid to think what would happen if we fell. What danger is there if you don't think of any? My GPS proved to be right on the money with its mark on a USGS raster map. The coordinates are definitely off by at least 60 feet. I got better coordinates but I lost them from my GPS before I could pass them along to the cache owner. Thus we finished the series (before the fifth cache was added, that is) and began the long, uphill ride out. I am reminded that I am in terrible shape. Thanks for the fun AND exercise! Johnny, Eric, and Erin.
