A blast from the past and back we go to where it started for us locals.
Many of you local people will know this area well. I decided it was time to head back and place another one in this rather large park that runs along lake Ontario. With many trails and ways to go, this will not be as easy as it may seem to you Seasoned Cachers. I will Include the parking coordinates in the encryption area, but don't let that fool you, from there you will still need to locate a trail to bring you home. You will want to bring your camera along for this one as there is so many things to see. Bring the kids along for this adventure, the hunt is safe and most of the way is skeeter free. Located within a couple miles of this cache is the SeaBreeze Amusement Park, this would be a great added treat for an after Caching fun time. Though there is a golf course near by, let it be known I never had to go on it once to get to this cache, But if you hear "FOUR"...duck! Now for the Cache... It is a .50cal Retired ammo can painted several blending colors to make it that much harder to find. There is a single use camera included that I ask cachers to take a picture of themselves or group and return to the bag it is placed in. We loaded this box to the top with many Items, so be sure that if you take one that you also leave one for the next adventure seeker. I wish you all luck on this hunt...you'll need a touch of it to find the prize. There are pictures Included with this cache page as hints, look only if you need the extra help! |

Open Log: Personal use only We are cheaters and used the parking coordinates, but didn't look at the spoiler photo. Found the correct trail and it took us right to the cache. Great trail, and there are lots of those here at Durand. Had one false start where we thought we'd have to head through the golf course. Cache was a bit in the open but we covered it better.

Open Log: Personal use only Just dad of team Rochrach out today... starting our 2nd year of caching. Still gotta thing for those Navicache-only caches... Given the weather (trace of snow on the ground), took the easy way in. Parked at the golf club and moseyed on over. Saw cross-country ski tracks in the snow and couldn't believe it. Must be diehards to start with only a trace on the ground. (Later on, I actually saw 3 of the skiers.) No trouble getting to the spot, but quite a difficult find. It wasn't in any of the places it *should* have been. Finally, after deciding to give it one more look before leaving, I see just a hint of the cache box. Hurray! This one was definitely harder with the snow cover. TNLNSL. Thanks again for the cache. Love getting out to new parks (though a Roch native, haven't spent much time at Durand) and new locations.

Open Log: Unrestricted It was too nice of a night not to go out geocaching even if I only had time for one. I probably took the hard way to this cache but it was very scenic, I saw some ducks and a couple of swans in the pond below. I did not see any deer or the ghost but I found the cache so that was good. TNLNSL. I can not believe no one has been back here for so long, it is a great spot. Car2

Open Log: Personal use only Well, it certainly wasn't because we were in the wrong spot. We had the right spot, but GPS wasn't giving us great accuracy with the hills here I suspect. The two feet of snow that the cache was buried under didn't help either. We got lucky on Ghost's Domain, but the Revenge got us. No find, but had fun trying. Thanks.

Oh! That trail! Why didn't someone say so!?! Ok, so once again, I showed my sis from Garford gang how to take the 'scenic' route to a cache, and then the recommended route back to car :) I was even nice enough to have my GPS jump all about at the cache area just long enough to let her find our third cache of the day at 1:12PM. Thanks for another nice walk in the rain.

Open Log: Personal use only Took my grandson out on his first hunt, and we found it after a bit of a search. Watched a deer feeding on the other side of the hill for a while, and in addition to his cache prize, Jake got a brand new golf ball that had lost its way. Took foam ball, left green pig and a George.

Great day, great park. About in the mid 50’s today and Sunny. There were lots of golfer’s out on the course! We, my wife and son, drove around a little, trying to find the best approach – isn’t that cheating? We went fairly directly to the cache, although we lost our signals in the tree cover and overshot the mark until we got a new fix. We took a Mickey Mouse stuffed key chain and left a set of dominoes. We also left a ‘wheresgeorge.com’ $1 bill, logged in, and took a picture. Thanks for the cache – kajer.

I first visited Ghost's Domain, and that was a nice walk. On one of the nearby paths, my GPS was showing only .4 mi to Ghosts Revenge, but I thought we might find a short walk from the road. We drove around and found another parking spot (on Zoo Rd), that was about .5 mi away. Otter, Izza Puppy, and I started walking. we came to a steep downhill, and Otter said she would wait for us. Izza and I start hiking, and after climbing up hills, down hills, crossing a road, and crossing two bogs, we found the cache. Down below I saw what looked like yet another green moss covered bog. I kept hearing throaty sounding cars nearby as well but could see any road. I took a GPS book, signed the log book saying I was going to leave a CDrom, and 3 $1 bills. I took a diffrent route back follow a path came to a road, and followed that back around retrieved Otter. I then realized I forgot to leave the stuff in the Cache. We drove around and found a couple closer places to park near the cache. We parked near a golf course. My GPS said the cache was .25 mi across the course so I being nice walk around the course. I found the cache again only 40 feet away from the fairway. Evidently the green moss covered bog I saw below was actually a golf course, and the cars I was hear were golf carts. I was very tired at this point. I left the stuff I had intended to leave in the first place. I can use the book.
