Harrisburg Depot is used as the Transportation Center for bus and train. I can take the bus to Harrisburg to catch the train and enjoy a walk around Harrisburg while I'm waiting.
This building, as is true of many older train stations, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It has a unique style, the Queen Anne style, and a unique train shed structure. In 1922 over 100 trains arrived and departed at the station each day. Now you can catch a train to Chicago once a day or the more frequent trains to Philadelphia. To log this cache, you need to email me the answers to 2 questions: 1) What time of day did the original portion of the present building open? 2) How many train station structures have been built at this site including the present building? |
