Where Eagles Dare, along the bike trail from Marble to Calumet. Cache container is a rubbermaid type container.
Along this trail if you watch the areas near the pit edge and edges of the dumps, you should see an eagle or two riding on the rising air currents. This part of the bike trail goes up and down, if you take the total bike trail you will go up and down 300 feet, the longest rise about 100 feet. The distance to both stages from Marble is just under one mile. The handicap cart was able to do the climbs and had enough energy to get past Calumet and back to Marble so I would think a battery operated one could do the cache with no trouble. This should be a trail biker's dream trip with the scenery and ups and downs. The first stage is a micro, the final a standard cache container. Container has a variety of items. The Hill Annex State Park is adjacent to the Calumet end of this trail. During the summer mine tours are available. There is a nice park with picnic tables and playground equipment if you care to take a break, |
