This is a Mystery Virtual cache. Both your eyes and your lungs will have a breath-taking experience.

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, in the late 1850s, Bodie was a thriving gold mining town. It was a tough place, full of lonely and tough men and very few womenfolk. Bullies pretty much had their way walkin' down the street, but it wasn't easy for any of them.

There were exceptions though. Some men seem to thrive no matter what the circumstances are. One such person, was a certain mining manager, named Warren Loose.

Well...he took a liken' to a certain lady and started courtin' her with a sleigh ride every Sunday afternoon. He'd park that ole sleigh in front of Burkham's store, buy a bottle of wine and then get prettied up at the local barber shop.

One day, his friends exchanged that bottle of wine fer a bottle of water while he was agettin' his locks slickered up by the barber. Boy did he have some explainin' to do to Alma when she discovered he only had water!

Ole Warren became quite famous awhile later cause his name was actually appearin' in the newspaper in the big city of San Francisco. His name was plastered all over the papers for several weeks cause he was suing the famous Leland Stanford for a colt. Seems that when Warren sold a racing horse to Mr. Stanford, he didn't know it was in foal. That means the mama horse has a baby horse to be born, for those of you who don't understand no horse lingo. Warren lost that case against the future Governor of California, but he gained a mighty fine lookin' lady in the process. Now, let me tell you about that! Yes sireee.

Because of the lawsuit, a stenographer in San Francisco thought Warren Loose was rich, so she up and married him as fast as she could. (Warren couldn't say no to any lady, specially since there were so few of 'em in Bodie!) Boy was she surprised when Warren brought her to his three room shack in Bodie. That marriage was short lived.

Many a year later, after a strong vigorous life, Warren learned that he was going to die soon. So he started lookin' for a place to be buried....He wanted somethin' special so people would remember him. "I want a spot where my grave can be seen by everybody comin' in or goin' out of Bodie", he said.

Why, I'm thinkin' that Ole Warren is down right proud of laying there in that grave on the highest hill lookin' out over and above all them there other Bodie residents dead and alive, ....and for all ...them years! But I don't know. Just who is buried up there? I just ain't be sure. I ain't climbin' that hill to find out. ..That's for sure. I think you better just check it out yurself!

2. Enjoy the view. (That's the most important part of this cache.)

Email to me:
