Situated behind the Pony Creek Baptist Church, the Box Cemetery is filled with Bluebonnets (the Texas state flower) late March thru mid April. Locals often stop to see the profuse blooms that nearly cover the entire cemetery
This cemetery is one of many historic Texas Cemeteries. A plaque describes some of the history of this old burial ground. The Pony Creek Baptist Church remained closed for a long time but recently has opend for services once again. The memebers of the church have greatly improved the Church and cemetery grounds. The cache is contained in a mid size tupperware container (it even has a blue top). It is filled with items that are blue, even a blue pencil. It doesn't have to be replaced with blue items, but each spring it would be out of place to think of any other color. |
