We took Fire Tower Road to a parking area. We chose the wrong one and headed passed the gate and down the road/path. We came across a hunting cabing that is all patched together. From there we headed up the hill and eventually the path disappeared. After .2 miles through the woods, we came upon the real path. We came out of the woods at a communication tower (about .3 miles from the cache) and did two benchmarks (KX1990 & KX1991). The cache is in good condition. We took the geocoin and a picture frame and left soap bubbles and a diecast car. We took the correct road back to the car. This road came out less than 500 feet from the car. A good trip. We spotted two snakes, three deer, one turkey and a frog. Thanks QM.

Out caching with D@nim@l, docditto, lux today prior to the Burning Micro event. This was my very 1st QM cache. Nice hike to the cache. Not a very clear day so we couldn't quite enjoy the view. TNLN

Found this one with Lux, Steel City Babe #8, and D@nim@l today. It was a little hazy so the view wasn't as good as it might have been, but the hike was enjoyable as was the company. Thanks for another fun geocaching experience!

well quest master your caches are never easy. logging this cache find also wasn't easy. a new site to join that really wasn't easy to join. sorry to hear of your rift with the other geocaching site. i do have some of the same issues as you with micro caches and the race to be first to find. also now i see some are complaining that the swag must be worthy. oh well, enough bitching.

Decided to test the suspension on the Dakota with this one. Made it up the rocky road in 2 wheel drive no problem. The gate was locked so we had to hike. About 1/2 way up, the GPS pointed directly into the woods, so off we went following it up the side of the ridge through all kinds of growth. Found a really neat field of yellow flowers about 4 feet tall. We saw every spot that the deer bed down and even some evidence of bear travels. We were almost all the way up to the tower when we noticed the road that we could have hiked the whole way up. Talk about taking the wrong way. Found it with no problems after that. Took dream catcher and left glow necklaces and a squirt gun. TFTC and nice view.

Open Log: Personal use only Lazysunday found it! I wasn't one of the lucky ones. The gate was locked so I had to hoof it the half mile up the hill to the cache. But that is no problem. Good exercise! I really enjoyed the incredible view from up there. It was definitely something to see. Thanks for bringing me to this place.

Open Log: Personal use only #2 of 3 today. Can't believe QuestMaster hid a cache that you can actually drive within 100' of it!!! Then again, it was a long windy road up to the top of the ridge. Being summer, there was too much haze to see much of anything; however, I was able to find the 3 nearby benchmarks: .KX1988, KX1990, and KX1991. Left TB. TFTC!

7:25PM - Well, where to start. I haven't done a QM cache in a while and I haven't gotten my name on the Lonely Cache Challenge List, so we killed two birds with one stone tonight. My wife went to the mall with her girlfriend. So, I told her to leave me the minivan so the kids and I could go caching. A call to Johnny confirmed that if I took "the back way up, I should be fine, the Mighty Colt did it." So, I took our minivan up a township "road" about 3 miles. It was a treacherous ride, so I went about 2-5 mph and had to navigate around big ruts, large rocks, sticks and logs, etc. I bottomed out the minivan 2 or 3 times and scraped the hitch at least that many times. I got stuck once, smoked the tire on a rock. Rocked out of that spot... (Don't tell my wife) But no tire blow outs or ruptured oil pans, etc. The kids enjoyed the bumpy ride. I parked at a blocked roadway where several "roads" intersected. Another fellow pulled up in an SUV just as I was and I thought I was going to have some competition for the LCC. But, he was just up scouting out a place to hunt turkey tomorrow. Then 2 guys pulled up on quads and said, "How'd you get that up here," referring to the minivan, to which I replied, "that way, slowly and carefully." I was 0.58 miles from the cache at this point. There was a "road" that went in the direction of the cache, blocked with large boulders. That's where we started. KJ and Serena walked the whole way with me. I had Hannah on my back. Up, up, up we went. We got to GZ, and I sent Serena in the general direction of the cache for her to find it, which she did. KJ strong armed the cache out. He grabbed a little walkman radio and Serena took a dog book. I left a Porsche Carrera GT, my new K-SQUARED geonickel and a glow stick. KJ also dropped his new PEN ERASER TB in the cache. I signed the log, put things back together and rehid the ammo can. We went back to the road and saw the USX Tower on the horizon as the sun was setting. At least the walk back was all down hill. This was a great cache! I can't believe there aren't more up here! The kids did great on a challenging hike (I thought I would get some whining from Serena, but not a peep!). I want to come back to this area in the summer when it is more green. We got back to the minivan, and there was another SUV, but no one was around. Took it slow going back down the "road" without any mishaps. When I got back to civilization I called Johnny and told him to take this cache off the LCC. Turns out, I took the hard way up. I thought I was on Fire Tower Rd, but I wasn't, I had taken Millwood Hollow Rd up to the cache area. Wow, in a minivan, we both got a chuckle out of that. No wonder the guys up there were asking me how I got there! TFTC Johnny, see you out there! Oh, yeah, one more thing, it was 86 miles round trip, which is about $16 in gas, but getting this find off the LCC with all 3 of my kids was priceless.

Team Rambo consisted of Don, Russell, and a 2000 wrangle with 33" tires and 6" of lift. The wrangle is at home on roads like this! Lucky for us, the road to the cache was open for hunting until may 25th. We were out this way from beaver county to do the Jeep Hill Thrill Cache about 10 miles west of here. Since we were going to be out in the area I had to do a QM cache and boy did I pick a good one!! What a great place! And what a view! It had just finished raining so it was very hazy but the view was still awesome! We found some sort of water pump house on the way out. I took pictures of it. Thanks for another great cache Quest Master! TNLN SL

Open Log: Personal use only 2nd of 5 cache attempts today on this beautiful fall day at the peak of fall foliage for the whole Nellsnake crew. We navigated over to this one from Robinson Falls with a bit of difficulty and parked at the entrance to the side road up to the cache about 0.6 crow miles away. We were hopeful that we might be able to catch a glimpse of the USX tower in downtown Pittsburgh, but alas it was a bit too hazy today. The overlook area near the cache was still very breathtaking nonetheless. Nellsnake Mom comandeered the GPSr and went into the woods to find the cache while the boys played with Woolly Bear caterpillars on the gravel road. She found the cache fairly quickly in its well secured spot. We took a glow stick and the Okie Air Force F16 Falcon TB that Airnut had just placed in the cache earlier in the day and left a crazy pink crystal ring and the Boo Bear TB who just returned from a trip to St. Louis. On the walk back down to the car, we encountered two pick-up trucks driving up with hunters aboard. Our adventures continued at the nearby Junker in the Bunker. Thanks for bringing us to this great area on such a nice day, QM!
