3rd and final of the day with John from Team Copy Cat and Riki from Team Copy Catress on our "Dripping Millstones Under There" SGL 51 tour.

This is my first official Navicache that's I've done. Well I've had this one on my "ta-do" list since the fall of 06 but had not gotten around to doing in.

After completing The Millstone Quarry we headed down to finish the day out with this one. John had already done this one so it was up to Riki and I to find it. The trip started with us taking the wrong road and landing right in the middle of some thick growth. Not only that, but the area had more bear scat then I've ever seen. I don't know if all belonged to one or a whole mess of them. I guess only the owner would know that and he ain't talking.

After a half mile bushwack we got to the falls. What a scenic location! Then came to to go "Under There". Not as hard as I thought but a challenge no the less. On the little sandy beach were fresh bear prints. Don't know how long ago he was there but it would have been nice to get a photo of him. I really like the deep pool also. Just a neat spot that I would have never seen had it not been for caching.

On our way out we found the correct road and it was smooth sailing back to the truck. Thanks for another fine cache in SGL 51. The place never ceases to amaze!

P.S I just got the brand new CD from The Bakerton Group today in the mail and for some reason every time I hear the lead off track "1906 PT2" I can't help but think of this cache. Why, I have no idea but I think it would make a fitting theme song for it.

#310/7:20PM - D@nim@l and I met up this evening to do some caching together in the Cong, this was our second find of four planned: Jumonville Glen, "WOW" Rocks, It's Under There and Millstone Quarry Cache. I have been watching this cache for a long time. It amazed me how many people bushwhacked so far to get to this cache when you can take a SGL road and then a foot path to within 400' of the final. D@nim@l suggested a right at the "bridge," and boy what a bushwhack through the laurel next to the creek we had. Got to GZ and D@nim@l watched me go under there. I found the cache, signed the log and replaced it. TFTC Johnny! This was a workout, but well worth it! Off to Millstone next, 0.9 miles that way...

2:03PM -- #7 of 9 in the QuestMaster Cache Marathon and so far my toughest today. It's still under there, although the ammo box is rusting a little and the inside was a little wet. However, the ZipLoc bags are working great. Must have beat the "skidnbmw" crew there since no one had logged the logbook recently when I got there. Man, I would have paid someone $20 for a route of waypoints into this cache! I bushwacked about .6 mile in to this cache only to find a well-worn hunters path nearby!!! Hoping that the trail would lead to a great way out, I soon found it went in the opposite direction where I parked. Discouraged, I bushwacked out a slightly different direction (and longer!), hoping to find another magical hunter's path, but to no avail. Instead, more walls of mountain laurel, blueberry patches, dense 4 foot high ferns, a swamp, and endless dead-ending deer paths. The only thing enjoyable was the admiring the beauty of the water feature at the cache site and knowing that I could stop at the Firefly Grill in Ohiopyle afterwards. How does QuestMaster find these locations?!?!? Still think he's been raised by wolves. Thanks for the journey! TFTC!

3rd of 4 in the Fayette Cong on a scorchingly hot and humid day. We decided to try some higher elevation caches so that things wouldn't be quite so hot. By the time we got to this one at about 4:30 p.m., Nellsnake crew members #2-4 were starting to flag a bit. So, after hiking about 1/3 of a mile up the trail from our SGL parking spot on Greenbrier Rd. and getting bugged by numerous flies and the itching on their legs from the tall grass and weeds, they declared that they were heading back to the air-conditioned car. So, I continued on solo to the cache, found a spot to break off from the jeep trail at ~0.35 miles from the cache. From there, it was a fairly easy bushwhack over to the cache area. After breaking through the mountain laurel, I made my way down to the refreshing water and enjoyed the falls for a bit while letting the GPSr settle down. I then broke out my flashlight, which proved to be helpful in locating the cache from a little ways away. When I opened the cache, I was surprised to see a WJTB there. I looked in the logbook and noted that pghlooking and D@nim@l had just been there about four hours earlier. I considered grabbing the WJTB, but decided to just leave it there to bring others out to visit this great cache. There was also a troll TB in the cache. I signed the logbook at ~5:15 p.m. I also logged in and out The High Flying Bald Eagle TB who wants to visit high altitude caches (this one is at about 2050 feet elevation). I then snapped a photo of the three bugs in front of the nearby falls. After a quick jog back to the car where the rest of the family was waiting, we continued our drive up the rustic road and eventually made our way over to Pechins, where we enjoyed a nice Saturday evening meal. Thanks for the cache, QM!

Can't believe I wore long pants for this, nice trail to within 120 feet, than a geotrail or deer path to the creek. It had been a long while since I've been up Glad Run and the way everyone was carring on thought I would be in for some real bush wacking. Mt Laurls in bloom, berry are just starting to show a little color, the little apple trees in the feed lot are begining to show fruit. All in all it was a pleasent stroll about a mile or so. Could have gotten closer if I would have been willing to take the golf cart (rent-a-car Gas/Ele Hy) where it didn't belong. Johnny, thanks for the Fun even if it was a bit tame,
Lj
