Welcome to the Holiday Stash "Christmas Theme" Cache is located in Mingo Creek County Park, Washington County, off the Old Spring Trail. A pleasant walk for the first part, then off the trail and up the hill. You may take one of two ways to get to the cache area, the Old Spring Trail makes .5 mile loop. Cache is for anyone who is a kid or a kid at heart. This cache has an ever changing theme based on the upcoming or current holiday season. I ask that all trades be thoughtful of the theme if possible, but not necessary, please trade fairly for the sake of those who follow. Even if you have previously found this cache, feel free to do so again, just log a note. PLEASE, make sure to note how the cache is hidden and rehide it the same way. Cache is approximately .26 miles from the parking area (N 40° 11.448 W 080° 02.946). |

Open Log: Personal use only We found this today with the Mingo Madness group attending the Geocoinfest. This was our first group caching event and we enjoyed every minute of it. It was great fun to watch the kids making the finds. We picked up one of the Geocoinfest Tags and dropped off a Spooky CD. It was nice to meet everyone!!

Nice walk in the woods on a beautiful day, saw some interseting wildlife playing in the parking lot for this one! TFTC and the hunt. Great Park! It is alot bigger than I thought, and full of things to do.

It was Princesa's idea to do this cache again. I didn't have it on my list because I already have it marked as found but when she explained that it had been moved and the theme changed, I was inclined to try it. It seems that she had this really hideous Christmas tie that she wanted to foist off on this poor cache. Since we were already in the neighborhood to do the nearby "Mingo Park Gas Well" cache, it was no big deal to look the information up on the computer and program in the new coordinates for this cache. We parked in the same spot and hiked the same hike to slightly different coordinates that were a little further away this time around. We found the cache simultaneously in a few minutes time. Princesa traded her tie for something else. If you really want to look like a dork in this holiday season (or even more so in another season), go get Princesa's tie out of the cache. Thanks (again) for the cache. Merry Christmas! Johnny.

Open Log: Personal use only Nellsnake #1 and #4 returned to Mingo on a gorgeous, clear and relatively warm Sunday to find a few more caches that had popped up since our last visit. We also used this trip to pick up our newly minted 2005 PA Geocoins nearby. This cache was our third stop. We definitely took the hard and roundabout way over to this cache. We parked near the Ebenezer covered bridge and basically followed the arrow up and up until we intersected an orange blazed trail, which meandered down in the right general direction until we got within a few hundred feet of the cache from above. We bushwhacked down and found it within 5 minutes or so in a nicely hidden spot. We were the first finders of the day. The cache was stuffed full of Christmas goodies. We didn't have any similarly themed items to trade, so we TNLN and signed in at about 1:30 p.m. We had some difficulty stuffing everything back into the can, but eventually succeeded. We took a more direct and civil route back over to our car. We then headed up to the Geocoin rendez-vous location, where we greeted the cache owner (Santa Claus himself!). Thanks for the very nice themed cache, tmocm!

Princesa and I squeezed this one in just before it got dark. We got held up by a hayride moving at a very slow pace that further delayed our getting on the trail. This was a new part of Mingo for me. We followed the arrow straight up a trail which got us pretty close to coordinates. Princesa went off in the wrong direction and I overshot the target. I got it on the backtrack checking a spot that I had overlooked while she was still off in never-never land. Flashlights were required to do our business with the cache which did not include any trades because we didn't have anything that fit the theme. I would have liked to finish the trail but it was just too dark for that. Maybe next time. Thanks for the cache. Johnny.
