Carpenter Hill is the highest natural point in Sacramento County. (828 feet above sea level.)

There are 58 counties in the State of California. The highest peaks in all 57 other counties, are higher than Sacramento's highest peak.

Therefore, Sacramento has California's Lowest Highest Peak.

Go to these Parking coordinates first: N38 39.128 W121 05.950 Elevation 637. Walk a very short distance up the bike trail until the short brick wall to your left disappears. Using the coordinates to the cache as your guide, walk up that steep grassy, Little House on the Prairie hill to the cache site.

This is a great view of Sacramento. You can also see the Sutter Buttes, the Coastal Range, including Mount Diablo and the Sierras. Grassland birds and raptors are in abundance.

BENCHMARK: You can't avoid this one even if you wanted to. It might slap you in the face. Unfortunately, it is not on the benchmark databases Groundspeak has access to. There is no question that this is a U.S. Geological Survey Benchmark. It is in the right place and at the exact elevation where it is supposed to be.

Cache is a white see-through plastic bottle. Original contents are:
1 log book
1 pen
1 geocaching notice
26 jingle bells
1 nasty looking bug

Enjoy the view. Please pick up any trash you see in the area.

DOGGIE FUN: Park below the last part of the hill, walk up, and your dogs will share their joy with you. 47Tahoe47 tested it for them.(Woof, Woof!)

NIGHTTIME: This has got to be a great Lover's Lane! (Sorry, I'm taken!)

ASTRONOMERS: How come there's no observatory here?

AMATUER ASTRONOMERS: Now you know where to go. (Please don't point your scopes at the cars.)

NOTE: Because of massive construction in the area, the way to get to this cache has changed. Feel free to put in the logs any recommendations you may have for driving to the above Parking coordinates.
