FANNY BRIDGE
Coordinates are within a 39 feet range of error. Elevation is 6264.

When visiting Tahoe city, Lake Tahoe, you can't miss famed Fanny Bridge. It was humorously named for that part of the anatomy that's most visible when people bend to peer into the Truckee River, hoping for a glimpse of the giant rainbow trout that swim there. You can feed the fish and watch the seagulls race to beat the fish to the food.

Look above the fish and you can see Lake Tahoe's only water outlet.

Because of construction that made our last cache disappear, we placed this new cache approximately 200 feet away from, but within sight of the bridge. The cache will only be challenging to new geo-cachers. Because this is a vacation spot and some geo-cachers may not be coming by a second time, I have given a 'very' helpful hint.

When you log this GeoCache, feel free to share photos of the people peering over the bridge. Also, please tell us what city and state or country you are from.

You may want to visit the nearby historical museum. Admission is no longer free but it is well worth the time spent there.

When on the bridge, you can also turn around and see the river rafters (when in season) start their journey down the Truckee River to the River Ranch.

WARNING: BE AWARE AND VERY CAREFUL OF THE VEHICLE TRAFFIC.

Benchmarks: If you benchmarks, there are 6 to 8 benchmarks in the area. Three easy ones are: KS0283 and KS0284 located on each end of the outlet gates and KS0282 located on the bridge walkway on the other side of the street.
