A multicache you can solve in a few short hops!
In the novel “Watership Down,” the tribe of rabbits had to wander for a while before finding its true home. This multicache mimics the rabbits’ journey, but instead of the English countryside you’ll be traveling through the park I haunted in my youth. There’s no need to drive between waypoints (rabbits don’t drive, do they?) and this course shouldn’t take long to complete. Please cache in, trash out. This park is slowly returning to the verdant sanctuary I remember, but it can still use some help. Warning: this cache has an elevated Cuteness factor. Children are encouraged to accompany their adults when seeking out the clues. The warrens containing the clues may be more accessible for smaller hands. No tractors, scythes, or heavy boots are needed for this one: all the clues are located quite near established trails. If you’re bushwhacking, you’re probably off course. The contents of the cache and the clues will also appeal more to the machismo-impaired. Rabbits and Literature serve as the cache’s themes. I hope you’ll trade fair, as I’ve done my best to hunt up quality trinkets to match those themes. Even if you can’t trade, please sign the log and take a picture with the camera. I’ve left a few “carrots” along the way to serve as souvenirs. New!! Cache camera pics can be viewed at http://homepage.mac.com/shilfiell/PhotoAlbum2.html ! The first part of the cache (the listed coordinates) is probably the most difficult. Look for a brown plastic jar with a white lid. The final burrow is a standard ammo container, painted appropriately. Coordinates have been checked several times and are as accurate as possible with my elderly GPS and some tree cover – please remember that no portion of this cache is far from a trail, which should narrow your search radius. Please be cunning, and full of tricks – you may need to be quite stealthy! Hide your bunny trail to make the search more fun for the next finder, and rehide each container as well as possible. I hope you enjoy my very first cache! |

oi! Found all three parts today, the first part wasnt that bad, but..... The second part our coords were off by 50 feet, we were looking and looking and said ok 5 more minutes with 2 minutes to go i thought hmm... ill look over here, just in case.. And thats right where was! Always the last place, eh? Found the final points with ease. At the final cache place, again the GPS was over 100 feet off, but as I was walking down the trail I actually spotted the cache out of the corner of my eye, lucky for me I suppose, as that saved me any real searching. The cache is jam packed full of goodies! We took a rabbit figure, and left some gloves. We saw a rabbit on the trail on the path near part 2 and that made us smile! The deep woods off in the cache should perhaps be moved to the first location :P I had sprayed myself before we left, but my mom didn't. She regretted it as the skeeters are still out in full force! Left the Neon TB. Thanks for the cache!

Open Log: Personal use only Finally completed this one! I looked for it with three of my grandkids last month, but didn't log it as a "no find". It was more, like "gotta get out of here 'cause they're all over the place". (Ages 7, 5 and 4). Found the first clue pretty quickly, then proceeded to ignore the directions, and did some pretty heavy bushwhacking to get to the next part. All in all it was a good adventure. Enjoyed the hike and the theme. TNLN. Don't forget the Deep Woods Off. :)

Found all three parts today with onamission. The first cache is in very poor shape. Its cracked and the lid is also in pieces. the contents were a little soggy, but the next set of coords were still legible. the other caches are in good shape.

Open Log: Personal use only Went out looking this morning and could not find the first clue. I brought my 2 yr.old son and dog so I was a little distracted. Nice area and I knew about the park but not that much. This was my first time and I have already e-mailed the listing to 4 people I know. I will go back and find the first clue and then I will be truly hooked.

I just found out about caching and this was my first stab at it. It was close to home and I figgured I could do it after work. Found all three in about 1 1/2 hrs. Nice hike. Better than stationery running at the gym. (You get nowhere that way.) I thought the theme was superb and I wish I still had kids at home to share this with (all grown up now). Took nothing left nothing. Thanks for the adventure !

The cats guarding the first clue were a bit bedraggled but the snow made up for that. Actually, the snow made the entire hunt a little challenging but when we found the caches the excitement certainly outweighed the difficulties. We found it at 4PM just minutes after it began to rain, and as the sky grew darker, Lupin realized that he had not marked the waypoint for the parking lot! That added to the excitement. Took a photo, a flashlight, and left an Easter Bunny magnet and a rabbit chopstick rest. We managed to make it back before we were totally soaked.

After I found a really cool cache this morning by myself, I just had to take Casey (my son) on a cache. He put such a guilt trip on me. He just doesn't understand that sometimes

Open Log: Personal use only Introduced friends from Ottawa, Ontario (The White feet) to Geocaching with this cache today. The first clue was found very easily, but the subsequent ones were more difficult due to gps wandering coordinates under the tree cover. Took a book and left a catnip-stuffed bunny.

YEA!!! Found it first. What a lot of fun this cache was. Got up early this morning and did this cache with headlamp and flashlight (early bird gets the worm...NO...the rabbits were helping}. The clues were great. Nice to see another Richard Adams fan. My favorite The Plague Dogs...always wanted to rescue Snitter and Rowf. Forgot to grab the travel bug...oops.

This cache was lots of fun. It was a beautiful day. We wanted to go the day before, but it rained ALL day. We brought 2 of my daughter's friends with us and it was fun to see them experience the fun of geocaching for the first time.
