R U a Bushwhacker Cache is located in a Lake Shore Marshes Wildlife Management Unit, in the lovely Town of Huron, NY.

This is not a drive by cache, you will be required to work to get to the location and think outside the box once you are there to find this cache.

You are looking for a cheap Tupperware style container inside a zip lock bag. The cache is full of items of very little value, not even a camera. Your reward will be what you make of the trip in and out. There is plenty of fauna and flora to observe in the area, wander about on your way to and from the cache. Additionally there are several other caches in the vicinity.

Depending on the time of year and your approach you may encounter water, ice, muddy conditions and dense vegetation all in the first 10th of a mile. After that you are rewarded with an upland hardwoods hike bounded by a marsh. There is not a defined trail but once you get past the beginning the woods are pretty wide open.

PLEASE LEAVE THE AREA AS YOU FIND IT. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TEAR THE AREA APART TO FIND THE CACHE. IF A DECOY CACHE HIDING SPOT FOOLS YOU OR IF YOU DO NOT FIND THE BUSHWHACKER CACHE YOUR REWARD IS TO BUILD ANOTHER DECOY CACHE HIDING SPOT FOR FUTURE CACHERS.

The land is open for hunting so please visit the NYSDEC website for open hunting dates.

Mack if you do return or if anyone else visits, feel free to pick up any pieces of the cache/contents you might find and be LTL. If the cache stayed where it was originally placed by now it should be encased in a tree.

It would be amazing to see a find log on this after all these years!

I've been aware of this cache for over a year. Good intentions to get here never came to fruition until today. Guess I had forgotten anything I knew about this before starting, because I was really underprepared!

Chose one of the parking spots without being aware what was in front of me. Thought the title of the cache was going to be the biggest obstacle, but it didn't turn out that way. After thinking I had made it through the worst phase, suddenly found myself with water leaking down over my gaitors and into my boots. Oops. I skirted around for a bit looking for a better approach, but decided the cold, smell and squish of my boots was enough of an adventure.

A bit of homework has me eyeing a different approach. Hopefully it won't take me another year to try it out!

1st to find the cache! Found at 10:15AM. Was a fun hide, quite a bit of walking to get to it (the way we got to it at least), but we made it.

Took nothing, left a WG$ and lei.

Thanks for the great exercise and calories burned.
