Not far from Aylesbury, Tring and Dunstable lies Ivinghoe Beacon, a series of conical hills and mounds that offer panoramic views of every neighbouring angle. An extremly picturesque setting for a GeoCache, but is there something more controversial in the sky?

Pid planted this cache on Sunday 2nd of September 2002.

Cache contains/ed:

A Sponge
A Summer CD
Some Red Wine (Small flask)
100W Lightbulb
2 Tennis balls
A Puncture repair kit
4 Batteries
A packet Bin Liners
4 pens
An Air freshener
Some Sunglasses
A box of Matches

Some of the views are quite literally breathtaking, you can see the lion of Whipsnape in the distance. You can see Aylesbury and even if you look closely you can see the Monument on Coombe hill miles away in the distance.

It has been said that a Crop Circle appeared here in July 2002. Is this another lifeform checking down on us? or is it just mindless fun and games? click here...to find out more and decide for yourself, whatever the weather its very spooky to me!

Be sure to park in the car park and walk to the cache from here, you can get to within 0.10 from the road but its illegal to stop so be sensible and walk the walk of 0.22 from the car park at N51 50.062 W000 36.220.

Many walkers are around here taking in the views and making the walk to the top of the main beacon to fly kites and aeroplanes, so make sure you don't get seen ;o) .

Theres normally an Ice Cream van in the car park in summer months and if you fancy a strawberry or two theres a P.Y.O on the main road as you come in.

Happy Hunting.

What a beautiful area & great views! I was driving up to Northampton from Cornwall today & thought I`d make a detour to help my Navicache score grow a bit, it`s nice to find a "dual-listed" cache. Cache found quickly, TNLN - Many Thanks. G
