A gentle stroll along an ancient way.

The Peddars way started life as a Roman Road around the time of the defeat of the Iceni tribe in AD61.

The way is now a long distance footpath combining The Peddars Way and The Norfolk Coast Path making a 93 mile route. The path starts at Knettishall Heath on the Norfolk / Suffolk border.

The cache is a small Tupperware screw top cup.

If you want to make a good walk out of this leave the car at the beginning of the footpath at N052 23.412 / E000 51.280. This should give you a 5 mile walk through mainly woodland. The route does cross a couple of roads so you might want to keep hold of kids and dogs.

There is enough parking for one vehicle within 1/2 mile of the cache but please don't block the farm gates.

Another alternative is to park to the north of the cache just off the A11.

Just happened to be passing this way on other business when the icon for this cache hove into view on my GPSr :-). I didn't have any details so didn't know if I was looking for a micro or an ammo box, but fortunately it was an easy one to find despite that.

Just along the path a bird flew out from under my feet. I guess it was protecting a nest because it bravely stayed around despite my presence. I'm no good at recognising birds, is this a grouse, a partridge, a pheasant or something else?

Thanks for a cache in a truly great location, a very enjoyable walk down this path.

Rgds, Andy

After following a forum thread on some of the best caches from the first couple of years of caching we came hunting down some of Icenians' caches and this is our first. What a crafty hide and what a full log book; infact the log book is full, has been written both ways, logs on the cover and on slips of paper inside the cache container. Beautiful day and the threatening showers stayed off. After four years the lid of the cache container is begining to crumble so maybe time for a visit. What a pleasure to find and to follow in the footsteps of so many. TFTC

Took a walk out to check on the cache. Still in good nick, many thanks to the Naked Farmers for looking after it. I'll return next week to refresh some of the contents. I'll need to change the clue as the pigs have moved and it doesn't make sense any more.
