Near the village of Vouni. Take the road to Vouni, passing the village on your right, you'll see the sign you are meant to follow (everyone knows who Eeyore is ?)
Like many of you, we all know from our childhood the stories of Winne-the-Pooh, Piglet, Kanga, Baby Roo and Christopher Robin and most of all their gloomy friend Eeyore. Eeyore lived near 100 acre wood in a rather boggy and sad, gloomy place, BUT this is by far the opposite. Founded in 1994 by Mary and Patrick Skinner and an old donkey called Basil. Their pack has now grown to approximately 125 donkeys, some are even rented back out to farmers for seasonal work. These donkeys are now cared for by volunteers and have regular veterinary care. The charity is financed by a variety of donations, visitors entrance fees, sponsorship of your own donkey and selling of gifts. This is a great place to visit for both visitors to Cyprus and locals. Feed the donkeys while you are here, help groom them or take them for a walk. Bring some veg or fruit with you to give the donkeys a treat, they’ll love it. Open Monday – Saturday, 10:00 am to 4.00 pm. Entrance fee (at this moment) £1 which is well worth it. The cache is a tupperware box with some goodies in, so bring something with you to swap. You can also visit the nearby village of Vouni, voted the most traditional village in Cyprus. Lots of cobbled streets, traditional stone houses and loads of cascading flowers. |
