We placed this cache on a hike we did through Devil's Gap towards Lake Minnewanka. The trail itself isn't all that difficult. Getting there might be. We took the #940 north towards the North Ghost camping area. Highway #940 is just west of Cochrane on #1A.

Watch for Richard's Road on your left (pavement ends just after). On your left, there is a gated road (TransAlta) - close the gate behind you. About 16km down the road you come to a hill that warns continuing on is not recommended. We saw a lot of cars at the bottom, so when we were there, it was fine. We took our van all the way to the trail head - better for a truck or 4X4 though.

If you are walking, from the bottom of the hill head SW. The road used across the gravel should be obvious. From the trailhead, it's about 5.5 km to the cache. The coordinates for the parking at the trailhead are 51 17.0286N 115 10.2594W. The trail starts a little to the left.

It was difficult to rate this cache. Once you get to the trail, it's an easy hike. The most dificulty is getting there first.

For those interested in a longer hike, you can actually hike all the way to Lake Minnewanka (29K I think). We hope to get that one done soon.

There were 8 of us that did the Devil's Gap cache today.

Interesting and different type of walk in Banff National park. For starters almost no elevation change in 5km. The hike up the valley provides some inspiring mountain views. There were rock climbers in the area today too.

Drive to the parking requires a 4X4
