Important note 3/12/2006!!! DO NOT MOVE THIS CACHE!! If you find it, please only log as a find, and replace it!! Another local moving cache was hidden less than 24 hours before this one, and I'm most likely going to make this a permanent cache (as soon as I hear from the hider of that one).

The concept of moving/traveling geocaches has long since been banned over at the "Big Green" website. But these types of caches are gleefully listed on Navicache.com, so lets try one, shall we?

The concept is very simple; find the cache, sign the log, and take it with you and hide it somewhere else (preferably within 1 weeks time). Obviously, as the name implies, this cache should not leave the "Buffalo-Niagara Region", defined by me as Erie and Niagara Counties. The cache is a screw-top Mayonaise jar, wrapped in camo tape and labled as a "Navicache", with the lid painted Olive Drab.

Log your find on the website, and when the cache is rehidden, post a note about your hide. This should include difficulty and terrain rating, parking coords (if needed), and any other pertinent information you would normally put in a traditional cache description. The owner (me) will receive the posted note via email, and update the listed coords on the cache page accordingly. I will also list a running total of "as the crow flies" miles traveled by the moving cache.

Back when these caches were listed on Big Green, I've seen many methods used to inform other cachers the cache has been removed from the listed location. The best is probably marking the location with an "X" in chalk (this definately will work with the original hide), or by making the shape of an "X" with some twigs or branches at the hiding spot. Of course the best method would be too get your butt home, and log on the website as quickly as possible!

The following bold text refers only to the original hide!!! The cache is located in the Town of Lockport, on a huge plot of public town land with well established (muddy) trails along the canal, which is very popular with ATV'ers. There are three geocaches in the area, although only one (Wingardium Leviosa) is listed on Navicache.com. THE CACHE IS HIDDEN IN A SCENIC, YET PRECARIOUS POSITION! Note the original terrain rating of 4 stars. I ain't kidding! :-). Park at N 43 07.994 W 078 43.476, and proceed to the cache location, but I strongly advise approaching from "the top", i.e. from behind the cache as you're coming from the parking coords. Know your limits, and do not attempt if you have any reservations. Remember to hug a tree, it could save your butt! The cache is mostly exposed next to some large rocks. Getting to it is the hard part. On the bright side, you get to take it with you, and don't have to replace it :-)

Ooops! As soon as this hide was listed, it looks like Madmann hid another area moving cache just hours before mine. DOH!!!!

After thinking about it for a few minutes, I'm going to probably leave this as a permanent cache, and archive this listing. SO DO NOT MOVE THIS CACHE AT THIS TIME. ONLY LOG AS A FIND, AND REPLACE (And be careful, for pete's sake).

Anyways, here's my original hide note:
Hidden on 12 March 2006, in the Town of Lockport, along well defined trails on undeveloped town land. Park at N 43 07.994 W 078 43.476, Cache hidden at N 43 08.169 W 078 43.353 Difficulty 2, Terrain 4. And I mean it!!! Best approach is from the top, from "behind" the cache, as you are approaching from the parking coords. Do not attempt if you have any reservations about the location. Remember to hug a tree!
