I drive past this place a few times a week during my work day. I love watching the activity that goes on here during nice (non-snowy!) days - especially during the summer on weekends. This area is part of the Niagara County Parks Department. Before I knew this area was here, I never realized how popular this hobby is!
To get credit for this cache, post a picture of yourself with your GPS, or if by yourself, you holding your GPS at the *back* of the information board (it’s much prettier!). Shy? No camera? Send an email with the answers to the following questions: 1 - What is this place? 2 - How far away downwind from spectators and automobiles must you be to partake in this activity? 3 - What is engraved in the brass plate at the top of the information board? 4 - If you find someone violating any of the rules, what is the phone number you are supposed to contact? Please do not give away the answers in your logs, even if encrypted - don’t ruin the fun for other cachers. I would love to try this activity some day! |

So I took a ride down to check things out, and Rayman is right - the information board is definitely in dire need of some TLC. When I was there, there were eight people enjoying themselves with the activity for which this place is for... it was a lot of fun to watch :)

Open Log: Personal use only Well it's about time I found this one! The past couple times I was here there were tons of people trying to do what it is they do here. Do they still even do that activity? The board to get the information from is in real sad shape. The left half of the rules are all torn off, which is where I suspect the answer to question 4 was. Open Log: Personal use only Yippie! FTF! Hey, I'll take anything I can get these days. I was actually with another prominent Navicacher most of the day, but we seperated, and he didn't have a camera anyways. So I found this on a bright, sunny winters day, as you can tell from my pic. I figured the area would be getting some use, but nothing, nor was there a few hours later when I passed again. Actually, I personally have never seen it in use, but will definately check it out if I ever do. Took pic of the back of "the board". Good thing too, I didn't see any phone number :-). Thanks for the virtual Navicache. |
