Mr. Road Kill! I have to say, every one of your caches is always an amazing experience. Thank you very much for this awesome hide. This has to be one of my favorite (and uniquely least accessible) places in the entire park.
I headed in this morning by my lonesome because my geo-bud Chicky was out frolicking at the Buffalo Zoo. So happy to be in one of my favorite places I headed down the FLT trail. The path was pretty wet (and the rain kept turning on and off), but the foliage was absolutely beautiful.

As I neared the bridge I wandered by the Beaver Pond (and from the looks of it this lil' guy has been working some serious overtime). Many trees and branches had been freshly gnawed and were strew about in what is the makings of a beaver condo or something.

I was surprised that my GPS did really put up too much of a fuss, and upon arriving at the zero-out spot the cords were pretty exact. So with the mist of the falls in my face I signed the log and waved (almost mockingly...hehe) to the folks on the other side of the river.

On my way back (actually near the beaver pond) I found a bunch of little orange salamanders near the trail...so of course I had to pit-stop and play with them. The entire trip was practically muggle free (as I only ran into two groups of hikers near the parade grounds), so it was wonderful having the west side of the park all to myself.

Again, thank you for the cache Road Kill. This certainly is one of the best I've ever done - can't wait to bring my geo-friends and family back to this spot!

Roadkill, I know you! Your cache was an awesome setting. I recommend everyone to find this cache and take in the unique view of Upper Falls. This is one of my favorite areas in Letchworth Park. The cache was well hidden and it was a thrill to find. Seeing that you are a flintknapper, I left a couple of band aides in the cache for you, I have the Geocoin and I plan on moving it to my next cache recovery. let's get together with Tom P. sometime and do a little chipping, OK?

Wow, this cache made for an awesome find for several reasons.
Besides being an "old school" cache placed in 2001, containing the ORIGINAL logbook, this was the location of the big-name WNY Cacher, BarbershopDru's 1000th find!
More than 20 cachers accompanied her to this historic milestone, and were there to cheer her on as she made the find.
Congrats on your milestone Dru; you're a true asset to the geocaching community!

Nice hike to this cache. Beautiful view of the Upper Falls. If you follow the scenic route, you can also see the ribbon falls at Inspiration Point. Good hide!

I ignored your warning and went by way of the Portageville Rd. I found the trail to be somewhat slippery, however if you stay on the trail going down the incline it is not too bad. I took my 7 Month old daughter in a backpack, However we did not find the cache we had a wonderfull time. The falls are amazing this close and I was amazed at the amount of ICE neer the cache area. Thanks for the great location.

Attempted, to do with Teams Headrush & Bullivant, was on
wrong side of river. We did like the views of the falls
though. Couldn't understand why people were on the bridge
tracks when trains ( 2) were comming. I guess they were
daredevils of some sort. Sorry, we weren't that adventurous
to corss the gorge by R&R tracks. We'll just have to try
finding a different way in. SF1 and Sunset

Fell down a little bit on this one. Very nice area and a nice hike. GPS was a little bit difficult but then got better. Took the monsters inc toy and left a pkg. of three water squirt toys. Had balloonpilot along for support but he offered no helpful clues, cache was in pretty good shape however bottom was a little damp as was some of the items, thanx Road Kill.

Finally found it on my 3rd attempt!
It helps when the snow is mostly gone.

On all three of my attempts, both of my GPS's were also taking me in circles. But at least they were only 40ft circles, and always in the same area.
The ice storm did a number on the immediate area. Many trees down, and also MUCH fallen rock all along the uppergorge.

Well, the snow & ice beat me on this one!.. :(
It was between 1.5-3FT deep, with a layer of ice about a foot down.

Well, I got some nice winter pictures at least. I also ran into a family who was hiking down to see the trestle. While we were talking, we got to watch a train go over in the fog.
They had no idea what cachin was, but they were familiar with GPS's. Hopefully I got them hooked. :)

My only miss of my trip, I found 8 others in 2 days and 2 of the "dash for the cache" event caches. I searched around for about 1.5 hours in the underbrush looking for the cache without luck. The location my CPS was pointing to was a bit (30') downstream from the lookout. I heard some voices and went over to find the lookout with 2 men with fishing rods admiring the view (they had been fishing elsewhere nearby). Even though I was unsuccessful in finding the cache, the view was worth the effort. After continuing searching around for quite a while I decided to call it quits and went on to find 2 more nearby caches before the end of the day.

Last find of the day. Roadkill, Balloon Pilot, and Chicken Lips accompanied me on this one, though they spent the majority of the hike looking for some special stones :) . Once again my gps was acting up and had be on the wrong side of the trail. Then it wanted me about 150 feet from the cache (following it's advice would've been very bad). Finally found the cache after reading their body language and ignoring my GPS.
Nice hike and the view was definately something to behold. Loved it.

Check out the The Fellowship of the Ring cache. This is the original and ultimate LOTR quest style cache. Also while your in town check out the Gamehendge Rangers other caches. Plus keep an eye out for my soon to be released --what a long strange trip it's been-- cache, a difficult cache, loosely based on my travels across the country, featuring miles of hiking, tons of waypoints, puzzles, and other surprises.

Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife) made this the second find of the day, having done Rocky's Hogs Back Vista earlier. Didn't realize how hot it was till we hit the landslide area, where the trees were small and the sun could find us. Also almost no breeze. The railroad bed was pretty pleasant in the shade. Couldn't believe the lack of bugs along the green slime area. Beautiful views of the upper falls. Found it reasonably easy as the GPS put us right on. Took the Golfing Santa and left a Viking Council patch from the Cousin's cache in Minnesota. Thanks for showing us this . Roadkill was grinning, and we were happy but sweating with our quick find. 1st of 5 finds today. Finally got a chance to come back to the park after getting rained out back in April on the day we met Road Kill at his Gibsonville Doublet cache. Harv found it without to much trouble while Donna was admiring the falls and the beautiful rainbow the sun was making on the spray from the falls. Took our picture with the cache camara and signed in. Left nothing and took only pictures. Thanks Road Kill for the nice view.

Found it at 5:35 pm. Took the route you're trying to have people avoid. Once we found the intended route we know which way to come next time! Thanks for getting us to this area. It was very wet but great view. Took nothing, left nothing.

Fourth cache of the day. Enjoyed the hike in. The scenery and views of the falls on this side of the park was breathtaking (and quiet). Mr Mom, Goo and I found this one rather quickly around 8:10pm just after sunset. Thank you again Road Kill for a great cache and another road less travelled.

Bravo, nice job Roadkill.We visited the cache at 11:30 this morning. We always assume that
we'll be happy at any of your sites because of the time and research you put into them, this
was no exception!!! We used to use that picnic area over 25 years ago...brought back some
old memories for us!! Despite the downpour, we had a great time finding this cache. The Map
76 was dead on but the e-trex venture was out in Hooterville somewhere.. Chickenlips found
this one as soon as I pointed her off the trail. We took 2 pictures with your camera. We took
nothing and left nothing but did sign the logbook. Thanks for an interesting morning.

My friend Bryan and I came to find this cache after finding shakers, but the
storm we were having had everything covered with snow and ice. The GPS had
us on the mark but everything wascovered so we gave up. My wife and I came
back and found it without any problems after the snow melted and the falls had
some nice rainbows that day. Thanks for the hide!

Another great road kill avdenture was had today. I decided to enjoy the day and where a cache was placed, so only targeted this one cache for the day. I am so glad we did! Back on 10/13 we scoped out the cache prior to the other caches we did that day. So today we entered the Park from the correct location, found the trail and took entire Hiltonfam (including Foo the Wonder dog) on the path. 3/4 of path was quite enjoyable. 1/4 had it's fair share of mud (sweetie gal brought home a fair share on her pants) and an elongated pond that smelled particularly foul and looked as if swamp thing could rise up any moment....But then we had Foo to protect us......Did the walk in about 30 minutes. I noticed an area that looked typical of a roadkill hiding spot and just as I said that Eversure reached in and grabbed it. Cache was in great shape an all were delighted with what was inside. Eversure had a huge grin as he picked up the koosh jarjar (been wanting this for very long), butterfly instantly shared the altoids and Sweety took the hair twisties. Left MTabernacle Choir Christmas CD, pumpkin popper and a balancing metal guy

Another RoadKill classic. Mrs. Gimpy & I headed to the cache area around 4:00 pm & got sidetracked by the lure of the pending views from the bridge. I always wondered how folks got to there but never knew it was so easy.Popped of about 20 pics with my digital from up there & I'm sure most will be suitable for framing. Headed down to the cache & had no problems getting to the spot. A real nice location. Had to be a little discreet as there was plenty of traffic on the trail. Took a deck of cards & left a Star Wars figure & a fine cigar.Great time, RoadKill. Thanks.

I knew where we needed to be but did not start out in exactly the right spot. This did necessitate the down over the bank you warned aganist, however we did it before it became too severe. Once on the right path a beautiful, scenic ROAD KILL CLASSIC. I did not give Mrs. Rocky or Mother of Rocky any slack as I got down to the serious business of finding one of your cache hides. Even though the hiding spot was tough, I was hollering HUCKLE BUCKLE BEANSTALK in a few short minutes. After logging in and trading treasure we looked at the beautiful views with the leaves in full glory. As we were leaving we ran into two different cachers zeroing in on it too. Thank you very much, we hit the perfect day, it was grand!!!

Ken and Mike took off right after work and headed straight for the park in an effort to be the first to find this cache. It was well worth the effort!! Although we have only been doing this a few days now, this one is our favorite. The scenery was excellent and what a great hiding spot. Nice Job Roadkill, we left you a cartoon as we were not really planning on doing this today.
