This virtual multi-cache will take you for a quick stroll by a few of the well-known landmarks of Jerusalem. Make sure to bring along a pen and some paper.
The coordinated will start you off near the famous Moses Montefiore Windmill in Yemin Moshe. This is one of the oldest communities in Jerusalem, outside of the city walls. Look for an inscription near the coordinated. I’m not going to tell you what it says, only that its letters fit the pattern: 196986 174324 Different digits represent different letters, and same digits represent same letters. Once you found it, substitute the letters back into digits, in the following coordinates: N 31 46.CLA E 35 13.RSA These second coordinates should bring you to some prominent lions (the symbol of Jerusalem). Here too you must look for an inscription. This time with the pattern: 87W235403323 And substitute the letters into the final coordinates: N 31 46.CLR E 35 13.BRB These third coordinates will take you to a beautiful view of the west side of the Old City and Mount Zion. Below is the Hinnom Valley, or Gey Ben-Hinnom. Over the years the name was rendered into the infamous Gehennom of Judeo-Christian lore. Crossing the valley, to your right, is a small cable car. To get credit for this cache, you must send me brief answers to the following two questions: 1) Why did the Hinnom Valley become associated with evil? 2) What was the cable car used for? If you have a few minutes, I recommend visiting the adjacent Cable Car Museum at: N 31 46.152 E 35 13.567 |
