According to geocaching.com, this cache was archived on June 30, 2004. I'm pretty sure this isn't a navicache only cache now, so it seems like it should be archived here as well. Too bad -- I love caching in this park and enjoy Hinge Thunder's caches.

Nice warm day (for late December); about 55 degrees and good and muddy. Had a blast getting messy with my son on the sand cliffs. Been hiking here for 20 years, but never made it to this overlook - nice view.

Also had no luck finding the cache - will try again soon.

hints are OK though :-)

Found this one (only our 2nd) without too much trouble, other than that our low-end GPS kept losing reception in the heavily wooded area. My wife and I are very familiar with this setting which certainly helped, once we figured out the general area it was in, we were aware of a trail that would take us near there. Very attractive setting, I highly recommend this one. We left a music CD (demo for a local classic rock band).

Found this one with onamission on Sunday afternoon about 3pm. The gate was closed, so we parked at the top and hiked our way down. This was our first time to this park and we really enjoyed the trails and views of the bay. The trail listed in the clue was not well traveled as evidenced by the undergrowth. Some places on the trail can get steep and take you close to the edge of the water. Took a picture with the camera and signed logbook. Took the room key travel bug and left some bubbles. Thanks for the new experience.

Our second cache of the day. We enjoyed the hike to this location. It was such a beautiful day today! Took some great pictures.

We took the dancing cookie monster and left a beaded snowflake plus the Room Key travel bug we found in New Jersey a couple of weeks ago while on vacation (Added hotel key from the Fairfield Inn in Webster, NY to travel bug).

Whew! I hiked to this one after work and set my backpack down on the cache without noticing it...hunted all around the area including some fairly steep hilly bits, then picked up my backpack to grab my fluffy towel to wipe off my forehead and...duh! Talk about feeling silly. At least I had no witnesses. :)

The woods were cool and delightful, the trails well-defined yet tricky enough to be interesting, the bugs minimal, and the views gorgeous. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and sat near the cache for a while just soaking it up.

Took the bug (will move him eastward) and a WG bill, left a WG bill and a pokemon toy. I'll be back in the area as soon as I can convince my son to go after the impossible one nearby. All I could do there was hang from the rope and covet.

Thanks for a fabulous walk!

Nice spot. We didn't know that anyone outside of the Adirondack Mountain Club (who does Sunday hikes in various parks around the county) knew about Bay Park East. This is a good park in which to get exercise, and we got a lot of it today climbing steep hills.

My GPS led me to about 30 feet north of the box. I walked right past the spot but didn't see it; fortunately Mrs. Hiker recognized the tell-tale signs and found it. We left a bath sponge in the box (didn't take anything except a picture, #3).

Boxwood trees were in bloom, which was quite pretty, and some wildflowers. The poison ivy was also starting to show itself (yippee).

He is trying to get to Ontario Canada. If you are heading West, please take him with you. He is owned by a boy in New Mexico who is trying to get him to his friend in Canada.

so anyway, there i was! Little old Light House Rocket.... contemplating weather or not to dig right into the matini's for the afternoon or get out for a little adventure and exercise geocaching...and so i decided to make a go at this cache.. drove down to smith road... and as i suspected the gate closes at 4:00pm... recalling those evil bike rides up that hill as a youngster i decided better find another way in.. looked at the townhomes off of empire because i now of the trails that lead in form there but they were packed so tight there was nowhere to park anymore... then there is always the way in i suggested for my cache but i hate waving to the people who live there when i walk by so i decided to take starting just up the hill behind the restaurant that i belive they now call "baywatch" that keeps going bankrupt and renaming itself.. of course this is the farthest point i could choose.. but i figured i would stop in at my cache on the way... and so i started in... said hello to my cache and with the encouragement of hinge thunder and Issaquah Puppy as posted in the log book.. blahh blahh blahh is, "only a half mile away" i pushed on... and so it was... i turned on my gps .. which gave me a distance of little over half a mile and a lovely low battery warning... knowing the distance i decided to turn of the gps and maked a go in the direction of the cache.. i had contemplated wearing my boots for this.. but thought the winter mocks might give me some good traction on the hills.. this was a bad descision in the end..as i found myself going up the hills with some trouble and sliding down them whether i wanted to or not.. this would normally not be a problem but with limited time, as it was about 4:45, and recent past involving over induldgence in martini's it took it's toll... so i decided to cut along the shore which worked ok except for some difficult bushwacking and climbing when the shore was impassible.. finally i come to a spot where i think i am close to the cache.. and sure enough i turn on the trusty gps and there it is just 300+ feet away.. but to my dismay there is a large (what do you call that, the tern has slipped my mind) offshoot to the bay in my way.. the marsh seems to extend quite far back!!! ugghh.. how i don't want to try to go around.. so i make the descion to try to cross the mouth of the offshoot.. across the Treacherous ice.. (DO NOT DO THIS, I am fully responsible for my own actions but not at all responsible for anybody else's actions) so i make my way across plesantly suprised to make it..despite the ominous sound of the broken ice chiming in the waves.. make my way up the cliff to the top of the hill.. turn on the gps.. and find out i am very close.. i go (according to the gps) within ten feet of the cache.. and just as i am circling around back to it the thing completly dies from lack of battery power... fortunatly it had gotten me that close and within a couple of minutes i found the cache and was quite thankful for this... i took sebulba (thanks to gimpy i believe) and left a cd.. i did take sebulba down to the water for a candid shot with the camera.. (seems the battery for the flash is dead however, i hope the shot comes out!) .. back up the cliff i go and sign the log book.. and make a run for it before it gets too dark... on my way back across the ice..i must admit one foot took a dip.. although the water wasn't that deep there was some delightful muck into which i sank.. (insertion: at this point i did see a couple of beautiful swans swimming nearby, unfortunatly i know their destructive abilities after being attacked by one.. they can break arms easily ya know) having had enough for the day and wanting to make it back to my car before dark i stayed along the shore as much as possible..once again occasionally fighting my way through some thick brush.. (insertion: i do believe i saw the osprey i saw last summer flying over head.. but the markings weren't clear.. and i was usure if the osprey would still be around at this time of year??? ) i finally made it to the area of my cache and made the irrational descision to cut across through the tall grass... it was a little wet but to my suprise sharp! it took a good gash out of my hand as i stumbled through it.. i can't express my happiness to have made it through that grass though.. as there was one hill to go and then i was practically to my car!!!.. just in the nick of time i made it to my car.. about 5:25 and on the verge of darkness.. thanks for the adventure... cheers, LightHouseRocket

2/3/2 - Super Bowl Sunday, 25 deg, 2-3 in of snow cover, and ice starting to form on the Bay. Nice cache spot, well hidden, and a great view of the Bay of Irondeqoit. The trails were icy so I walked off the trails in the snow. The cache was dry and in good shape. I took a 'swiss army knife' and a wheresgeorge $1 amd left a wheresgeorge bill and a keychain flashlight. No sign of anyone using the trails recently, but I did run into several hikers on the way out. The icy road was closed from the Maintenance Bldg. down to the Quansit hut (seasonal only). I also picked up a 'Hitch Hiker', the M&M Guy, if the weather holds he'll probably end up in Durand Park. -kajer

Great spot! I parked by the maintainance building and walked down - road down to the bay in inpassable. The temp is 25 deg with ice forming on the bay and on the trails. There was about 2-3 inches of snow which was easir to walk in verses the slippery trail. I found the cache without too much trouble. I took the 'Hitch Hiker' M&M guy and a wheresgeorge bill, and left just a wheresgeorge bill. I didn't know if I'd find it since I hadn't looked at the web site recently, the last I knew no one had been to the site since November. More activity recently. -Kajer

Found this cache about 2:15 this afternoon. Fantastic area that I never knew existed. Some real nice trails with some great views of the bay & surrounding area. Very popular spot, too. Ran into quite a few locals enjoying the trails. No problem getting to the cache. Logged my find in the cache log book & snapped my pic with the cache camera. Took a keychain lantern & left a Star Wars figure, 2 wheresgeorge bills & the new traveller, "Hiker", that I pulled from Quinns' Scottsville cache. I've logged his position on the "Hitchhikers" thread on the forums at www.navicache.com. Great hunt, HT. Thanks.---Gimpy---

The temp was around 65* and you just couldn't ask for a better day to go Geocaching. Your coordinates were dead on when I set my Garmin IIIPlus next to your cache site and let it settle in. Nice cache, nice location and a great time had by both of us. Thank you again for getting my lazy butt out of the house. Took a picture of us with your camera and signed your logbook. I left a wheres George Dollar and several "Crusty Creme" dollars for whoever wants to grab them goodies.
