Take a short hike on the other side of the great embankment to where the Irondequoit Creek runs under the Erie Canal.

This cache will take you to an area where the Irondequoit Creek runs underneath the Erie Canal. You've probably been on the canal path many times, but this little known trail takes you down a small hill to a very nice area.

This trail is owned by the NYS canal authority, even though it's on the other side of Rt96 from the canal. The trail is nicely maintained, and there are a few spurs that go in various directions. I believe the spur going left near the trailhead is privately owned, so make sure you check that if you explore further.

Please park at the trailhead at:
N43 03.989, W77 29.331
It is the nearest legal parking. Any other spot could be dangerous or illegal. There is room for 2 cars, 3 possibly.

Did this along with Cartersville. It looks like the creek goes uphill under the road. Drove around to see where it come s out. It goes under 2 roads and the canal.
