Travel through our most beautiful Catskill Mountains home of the headless horseman, Rip Van Winkle and Washington Irving’s Tales of Sleepy Hollow and the Willowemoc Creek and the Neversink River of trout fishing fame. Here are some of the prettiest covered bridges around in a tour that’ll take two to three hours of easy driving and finding and relaxing. Don’t forget your camera. Pack your lunch and bathing suit.
This is a treat.

Although you can start the tour from either direction, the Beaverkill is a great place to finish if you want to relax after the tour and swim, fish and picnic where there's a public area. There are no dogs allowed in the public picnic area. But you can take your pet to the Beaverkill Bridge and all of the other bridges. The two stars for difficulty is for the time it will take you to plan the route and travel – about 2-3 hours but it’s really driving time and everything is wheelchair accessible.

In order to report a “find” for this cache send an email to me with a specific fact about each bridge such as height of access or tons allowed. Don’t peek – I know this info is available on the web but I guarantee you’re going to love the tour. Don’t miss it. Go ahead and post your “find” at the same time – I trust ya. If you have a camera, post a picture of your touring crew at one of the bridges. It’ll make for a nice album.

For a "bonus" cache point, start at another bridge (Chestnut Creek Covered Bridge) in a companion conventional cache GC6F4C where you can hunt for a Rubbermaid container. Then move on to Halls Mills below, the first of the four virtual bridges. The five include all the covered bridges in this county through some of the finest Catskill scenery. The red track on the attached map shows the virtual tour four-bridge route and the black shows the conventional Chestnut Creek cache link-up. The 25 mile four bridge virtual tour is 5 miles from the Chestnut Creek cache. So start at the Chestnut Creek where you can find a cache and end at the Beaverkill where you can relax, eat and swim.
