We found this trail in one of the TAKE A HIKE books. It is an area formed when an ancient draught caused a field of grass to be surrounded by oak trees. The Indians and settlers both used its features to their advantage. It is one of less than 20 Oak Openings remaining in the world. It is home to birds, butterflies, animals, and plants. Today the D.E.C. works to save this resource.
The trails are a challenge to follow; sometimes mowed and sometimes not. We followed a one lane path that Coyote called a 5 stool hike.
Your GPS may lead you to believe you have to bushwack early on; but have faith and follow the path until you are close to the cache box(40 ft. or so).
We saw many animal tracks, and one barefoot human print; Sasquatch? Gamma Kitt pried a large spent bullet from a tree so don't go during hunting season.
The cache box is a 50 Cal. ammo box painted black. It has the usual log book, camera, and trinkets. Please trade fair, and enjoy the area.

I've been wanting to do this one for quite awhile and today i was in the area so I thought I would go for it. This was my last of 16 finds I made today. The opening was really cool I need to read more about this. Thanks for the cache, I didn't make any trades and signed the log. -Paleoman52-

Today we dropped my brother Gregg off at the Sunshine Camp (?) down the road for a instructional camping something or other (we weren't paying attention...haha). So at 8:30am, we were wandering around Quinn Oak Openings enjoying the absolute beauty of this forestry.

Much like the cache description mentions, the paths are a little "rustic"...haha. But that's the fun of caching! Geo-improv! So after doing a little bushwhacking we had the cache quickly in hand. Thank you Gamma Kitt and Coyote for this great cache, in a gorgeous spot. This certainly was the perfect way to kick off our day!

We were on our way back from some vineyards in the Finger Lakes when we passed pretty close to this one, so we went in.

Didn't see any trails at all, so we just faked it.

Found a couple deer beds, and saw some tracks.

Took nothing but memories, and left nothing besides a log entry,

TFTC.

Came down to the HF area specifically to do this cache, and we weren't disappointed. The trail was actually pretty easy to follow as there were truck tracks to walk in. The sats were a little jumpy at first, but once they settled down we had no troubles finding the cache! Thanks for bringing this area to our attention, we took a bunch of pictures, and took time to read all the signs and papers all around. Thanks for the hide!

Nice hike on this hot, hot summer day. Stayed on trail just like instructed, found with no problems at 12:10PM. Skeeters weren't too bad today here either. Thanks for our 4th find today!

Second cache today. Found it very easily. Did not linger in the area long because many shots being fired in the vicinty. Signs of a lot of target shooting around. And I did not want to be one. One thing about this sport, it takes you to many interesting places that you never knew exsisted. Thanks for the cache. Took nothing, except a picture.

Wow! Nice area! My 1st cache of the day.
Guess I took the long way in. Lots of the deer trails just kinda dead-ended in thickets.
My Mag 330 was within 1ft, and it still took me a couple minutes to see the cache.
Right before I got to it, a big bird (an owl or hawk?) flew out of a tree right above it and startled the heck out of me.
Took the cinnamon pack of Tic-Tacs, left a $1.
Saw the remains of a stone wall on the way out.....I love those, they are SO cool!

If anyone goes in or out thru the fields, watch your footing. Its nasty as there are lots of downed trees and branches hiding in the grass to twist an ankle on, or worse..... :(

A very interesting place. No trouble finding this one. Your coordinates brought me right to it. While driving there I went past Rocky’s work place just a couple of miles from the cache. No wonder he was 1st! Took picture # 24 with cache camera. Logged in, took/left nothing except a squirt of bug spray.
Thanks for the hide.

I did not have to Guess Who, because I knew Who. I had taken a walk here in May and considered placing a cache here. I thought the name was a nice coincidence as well. I am so glad that you did put a cache in so I could beat Road Kill to it AGAIN!!!! No problems finding the cache, especially after all the training my eyes got the day before at your Goose Poop. Thank you, it was so nice to be first
