Starting point is the Riederberg, wellknown to all motor-cyclists. You can get here by bus as well. I think the cache can be combined with nearby cache "Troppberg" (I didn't when hiding the cache because of the bad weather I've created).

The terrain is quite easy, there are forest roads available until very close to the cache. Therefore I have reduced the suggested rating from 3 to 2,5. I think it should be possible to do this with a buggy if it is a sturdy one. The roads may be pretty muddy sometimes, though.

Special equipment: I'd strongly recommend taking along some gardening gloves. And an umbrella could be helpful (depending on how you behave at Stage 3).

Stage 1:The Hunter

Find out the day (only the day) when the hunter died and take it as A.

Then hike to N 48° 14,845 and E 16° 05,224 where you will find Stage 2 and Stage 3. These coordinates apply to Stage 3 (and will form the base for calculating the cache-coordinates), but Stage 2 is only a few meters away from there.

Stage 2: Fire and Sword

Many have been killed here a long time ago. Find out how many and take their number as B. Take the number of years it took in the first place to build the object as C.

Stage 3: Do not disturb the Water

It is said that if you stir the water with a stick and pray 3 Lord's Prayers it will rain. I did not try that, but I managed to turn fog to rain by simply looking at it. So be careful, the rest of your caching-expedition depends on it.

Take the number of screws you can see below the feet as D.

The frame around the cross is decorated with smaller and larger "dents". Take the number of small dents on the lower right side of the frame as E.

Now you have all the information needed to calculate the cache-coordinates. I have tried to create a mathematically correct algorithm.

xxx = C * E * 10 + C

yyy = A * B * D

Stage 4: The Cache

N4 = 48° 14,845 - 0,xxx

E4 = 16° 05,224 - 0,yyy

I've done my best to hide it thoroughly. You may have to look and probe around for a while (and use the hint). Please hide it as well again.
The cache is a rectangular plastic box (12 x 17 x 3,5 cm) and contains: Cachelog, Logbook and a pencil (please do not remove)and some trading items.

Peter

1st find of our "3-Caches Hiking-Tour" from Riederberg to Untertullnerbach (also suitable for a well trained 5 year old child ;)

The stages were easy to find. Stage 2/3 was very impressing and rather peaceful on a saturday morning a.d. 2006 ;)

At the hideout we searched for a while but one of the junior members found the very well hidden cache.

Many thanks for the nice start up of our tour!

OUT: elephant, cat, sewing set
IN: duck's head, flumi, blue stuffed teddy keychain
