REMOTE AUTOMATED WEATHER STATIONS (RAWS)

There are nearly 1,500 interagency Remote Automated Weather Stations (RAWS) strategically located throughout the United States – mostly in the Western states. These stations monitor the weather. Weather data assists land management agencies with a variety of projects – monitoring air quality, rating fire danger, and providing information for research applications.

To claim this cache, find any RAWS, include GPS coordinates and nearest city in your post and maybe a bit about how you found it and a picture if possible showing you with your GPS.

This weather station is located in South Lake Tahoe near Taylor Creek. It relays weather data to a weather site that displays current information on temperature, wind speed and direction, snow and rainfall and snow accumulations on the ground measured by the snow pillow.

Found this one at the Children's Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana.

It's the world's largest museum expressly for children. This RAWS serves the museum as well as local schools and a television station!
