![]() This get together takes place on October 5, 2002, the right time for fall colors! It will be held in Letchworth State Park in the North Highbanks Enclosed Pavilion (the coordinates are for the Pavilion Door). There is a large parking lot and restrooms near the Pavilion. The Park opens at 6 AM and closes at 10 PM. There is a $5 entrance fee per car. If you want to camp in the park call 1-800-456-2267 or Highbanks Tent and Trailer (camping)237-3303. There are other campgrounds outside the park as well. There are strict regulations regarding pets; short leash, proof of shots, etc. Pets are prohibited from all park buildings, cabins, cabin areas, and pool areas. The Pavilion, North Highbanks, is nearest the Mt. Morris entrance in the area of the North Swimming Pool. It has a capacity of 184 people, there are 23 tabls. There are 8 grills in a covered, vented area attached to the enclosed area. There are only 2 electrical outlets, 1 in the cooking area and 1 in the enclosed area. There is running water just outside the Pavilion. There is a huge fireplace inside at one end of the Pavilion. There is a large play area and playground equipment for the kids. We could do breakfast as well as lunch! Any takers? Lunch will start around Noon. It will be a "Bring a Dish" type picnic as before. The only change might be that you will bring and help cook meat for your own family. Ideas along that line are welcome. ALSO NOTE, what we carry in we must carry out, so help with clean-up is assumed. We will allow some alcohol in moderation for adults,as before. (I had to sign a permit for that.) There are caches hidden near-by in the Park already and there will be a couple of special ones just for this picnic. Brogan has one we can get details of at the pavilion at 0600 that morning. DeKaner and Road Kill are working on one that includes a special "Event Badge" just for this gathering. Other activities for the day will be noted as the time draws nearer. Log on with a comment to let us get an idea of number attending. When you have an idea of a dish you'll bring, let us know that as soon as you can so we can plan for a varied menu. Road Kill will be bringing (beef) burgers. However, you will need to find a cook or cook for yourself. Special event announcement: We have made arrangements for free tours to the Mount Morris Dam which includes time at the museum, a 10 minute movie, and a guided tour down into the dam itself. We currently have 3 time slots reserved at 10 AM, 11 AM and Noon. Each tour can take 20 to 30 people. To sign-up, E-Mail to rsafford@frontiernet.net with name and number of people in your family. I will place you in one of these 3 groups if you sign in before September 22nd. If the tour list fills quickly, I may have sufficient time to reserve another time slot. So sign up early as we can't really wait until the last moment to get everyone in. Weather permitting there will be a tethered hot air balloon complements of Balloon Pilot, Chicken Lips, Road Rash & WW Gobstopper. In the late afternoon, when the wind dies down, rides may be available that could offer a glimps of Letchworth not often seen. Do I need to remind you to bring a camera? So attend the picnic and hope for good weather that will allow the balloon to lift off. For further info contact us at fschutte@rochester.rr.com Watch this cache for up dates. Thanks, Gamma Kitt, Coyote, & Hero |

Open Log: Personal use only Thanks to so many for making the picnic so much fun and a great success. Coyote was worried in late July that there might be only a few present in such a large pavilion. Then about 10:00 AM Oct. 5 he worried we might not have enough room for all the wonderful cachers that began arriving. Even he is saying we have to do it again next year. The food was abundant and delicious. Every one pitched in to set up, cook, and clean up! Games were great fun; the prizes exceptional. Conversations were tops, especially getting aquainted with so many new faces but familiar names. We still marvel at the number of Travel Bugs and Hitch Hikers assembled in one spot. We hope some one has a record of which and how many were there. We can't wait to see pictures. I do agree with Team Smoke, one great memory will be their son saying, "No"! at the right time; it was funny. Geocachers are the nicest people!!!!! THANK YOU ALL!!! Gamma Kitt, Coyote & Hero

Thank you so much to all who made this a great cacher's day picnic for us. 1st time to a picnic like this for us, hopefully not the last. Was so wonderful to meet the people whose names we have been seeing the past 5 months on the logs, and those who have hidden the caches we have been enjoying so much. Even my 16 yr old twins had a blast! Hope to see you all again soon on the trails!

Unfortunately it looks like I'm not going to be able to make it afterall, due to work screwing me at the last minute. Basically I have to work Sunday evening and I can't justify the 3 hour or so drive out there and then a 3 hour one back. I have thoughts of not going in since I put my two weeks in already, BUT the last thing I need is a bad reference. Maybe something will change, who knows. Majorly bummed because I was really looking forward to meeting everyone, and I was already to win a new GPS since mine pretty much died. Ahh well, hopefully I'll get to meet all of you at some spring caching event.
