THE OTHER SISTER By MrMom, MrsMom and Goo. 2 June, 2002
N43*04.700 W079*03.976

This cache is part of our Upper Niagara River Series; the peaceful side of The Niagara. The series begins with "ERIE'S END" ( upstream ) followed by "FISH'S SPAWN" and ends with "THE OTHER SISTER." The entire Upper Niagara Series follows clear and level paths and is well suited for the family. For a challenge, please visit our Lower Niagara River Gorge Series. The lower series begins at the Northern end of the river ( downstream ) with "RAPID ART" followed by "A DEVIL OF A HIKE" and ends with "RAW POWER!" Don't forget your camera. All caches take you through Western New York's most picturesque river and lake views. My seven year old daughter completed all hikes with minimal complaints. All readings were taken with a Garmin 176c and a Garmin III. Averaged accuracy's are better than 30 feet.

The turbulence begins here. Do you have a sister like that? Or does she remind you of a goat? I have heard that another sister is on the edge. See for yourself. What a rush! It doesn't end with the cache. Park for free and read the signs near N43*04.748 W079*03.967 During busy weekends, you may have to park close by in the pay lot, $5.00, or use your Empire State Passport. The Thunder Of The Mighty Niagara awaits you.

DO NOT TRAMPLE THE FRAGILE VEGETATION!

I honestly can't remember the date I first found this one. Came back many times before it was archived.

Found this one with my son & daughter after walking around the area admiring what Mother Nature has created.
Unfortunately, according to the other site, we were the last to find because the cache had been pulled by the authorities & is now in their possession. It has been archived on the other site.

Loved this spot, great view of the river! Lots of muggles though, have to be extra sneaky :). Spotted it rather quickly, clever hide.

After Mrs.FFof5's grandfather's funeral, AJ and I decided she needed some alone time, and we needed to pick Zack up at MMC child care. We parked near the rapids on the mainland and hiked over. We spent a good 20 minutes and came up empty so we took a walk down the path toward the falls and then came back. Some thing told me to check this last spot and I HB'd it. We snuck it out ot it's spot and headed off to ravage the loot!!!! AJ took the flash light and we left a 6 pack of matchbox cars and two handpainted poker chips advertising ASP Geobash II Also left Motogrrl Memorial Geocoin and took a dog coin....What an awesome cache....Thanx!!!!

No luck with this one today. After looking at past logs when I got home, I can see that I was in the right place, I just couldn't see it... Bummer too, I had a coin I wanted to swap :( I'll still try again the next time I'm in the area - it really is a great spot!

Met McClan while searching and I grabbed a travel-bug. Huckle "Senior" made the find on this one. Loved exploring the area- listening to the thunderous water cascading down, and also the smells. I left 3 travel-bugs, one geo-coin, and a book-crossing.com book and took the "Nova Dude" Bug in the cache. Thanks for the cache.

Logging my find to this site. Took me a while to find it, and almost gave up, but kept on going and got it. Great cache, TNLNSL.

Just paying my respects to an old find on the Navicache website. Jeesh, it's a 4 star difficulty on that "other website". Toughie, spent about 45 minutes looking for it.

We thought the Big Kahuna was our last one of the day. After walking over the bridge to Canada from the parking lot for the Big Kahuna and walking through town we got back to the car and decided to try a few more on our way home and this one was sooooo close. Parked in the 20 minute parking spot, walked right to the cache and found it within 5 minutes at 7:35 pm. We still wanted to do the ones on Grand Island so we hustled to the car and over to Buckhorn State Park. Took nothing, left nothing.

This was our second cache of the day......It really added to the overall enjoyment of this most excellent day!!

As with Erie's End the coordinates for this cache were right on for both the parking and the cache. It was a busy day but as luck would have it (around here we call it HIlton luck) we found the last free parking spot (That always makes Fearless' day...he's at least 1/2 Irish). I grabbed my pack (bulked up to 35 pounds today for good trading), Foo and my V and off we went. It was a quick trip in and very beautiful. With the 5 in our family it didn't take long to find it. Fearless says you picked a great spot. Even though there were many tourists there we were out of eye site......but cachers with little ones may want to keep them in view at all times.

The cache was in great shape but to be honest HFJohn had logged a find before us. Nice trading here! We took out a pack of crackers (Butterfly and Foo say thanks), a matchbox car (Eversure still is smiling), a deck of playing cards (Sweety loves to play and make up her own rules) and this is one of the rare occasions that Fearless took something....the Moody Blues CD. In their place we left a butterfly tiarra, a USA stocking hat with a little flag on it, a shinner upper with a parchese travel game inside and a lonely bunny he is paitently waiting on top of all the items for the next cacher......I signed a quilt square. My first to be made by me and signed at another cacher's cache! Fealess looked at the instructions and to his dismay saw that i had put our e-mail and home address on them......He thought if a ranger found the box they'de come a huntin for us....so I removed them from the paper........

Spent the rest of the day at the cave of the winds and walking the part of the falls nearest the cache.......Thanks so much for adding to the quality of our day!!
