This is a small cache along the appalachian trail. The cache is only 25 feet off the trail as to not create a side trial to the cache. Small container approximately 6"x6"x 4" deep.

This is my first cache placed during a section hike of the Appalachian trail.

Inside the cache is a unit badge for the famous 82nd Airborne. I placed this here to honor some friends and to show appreciation for our armed services. If you intend to seek out this cache please bring your favorite branch or unit patch of your own to add to it.

Be sure to ckeck out the town of Helen as well. If you've never been there or have never heard of it don't do any research, just let yourself be suprised, its worth it.

You may park on Rt 17 north of Helen, at the Unicoi Gap. Cross the road carefully and hike on up. Take some H20, its about a hour and a half hike at a moderate pace with a few two minute breaks to rest your legs. There is one section that contains some very rocky terrain to cross, a hiking staff and boots are recommended. Other than that have fun and enjoy the veiw.

Well after being out for a year it looks like I am the first to find. I use to check here ever so often to see if there were any caches not cross listed. But quit after awhile. I decided to check and this one showed up.

So I hit the trail today. It was a nice hike even if it was in the 30's and spitting snow. But even so there were a lot of hikers on the trail. The geocache was quickly found and I was lucky that no one passed on the trail while I signed the log book and left a signature wooden nickel and a geocaching coin.

After a year the geocache was in good shape.
