An afternoon hike to an interesting spot.

This cache is near one of the more memorable places along this section of the Appalachian Trail in New York. I've walked by it many times, and always wondered about the history of the place. I hope it intrigues you as well.

The nearest entrances to the trail are from Leather Hill Road (very limited parking), or from the Pawling Nature Preserve (somewhat more distant, but another geocache is there as well).

Some more information about the location is in the front page of the logbook.

Also note- the location of the AT is wrong on the topo map, and the nearby road they show is no longer accessible; the trail is the main means of access. If you're going through thorn bushes or substantially off the trail, there's an easier way to get where you're going.
