The stash: an ammo can, of the usual size.

Difficulty:2 It should take about a half hour to reach - if you're bushwacking while you're still more than a couple of hundred feet away, you're making things more difficult than you have to.

Terrain: 2 The cache is hidden between a boulder and a small cliff; you probably won't be able to see it until you are immediately above it.

Near the cache, there are some dangerous (but interesting) features-please be careful., and watch where you are going.

This was the 100th geocache I found in NY State! My wife and daughter ask me to keep track of the caches I do alone, so that I can take them later and let them do the hikes I think they would enjoy. I feel this cache adventure is the perfect family cache . . . it's not too far to hike (.78 mile indicated from parking/1.03 mile actual hiking distance each way), the terrain is moderate, and there is so much to see! Great job, Lucien!

So, I hiked in via blazed trails, and after examining the mine entrance for a little while, I continued on the trail a bit further. I left the trail when the gps indicated 98 feet, and approximately 50 feet later, I saw the cache container right in front of me. I took the batteries and tiny Bible and left a couple of Where's George dollars. Thanks for the fun hike!
