The
Legendary Champ
is a subject of great controversy. Whether you are a hard-core believer or a firm skeptic, we hope enjoy this Champ-hunt.

Crypto-zoologists think the creature may be a plesiosaur, a large underwater reptile not seen since prehistoric times. Samuel de Champlain, explorer for whom the lake is named, sighted Champ in July 1609 and described the creature as a "20 foot serpent thick as a barrel with a head like a horse." Some believe that Champ is a large
lake sturgeon.

In the summer of 1977 Sandra Mansi of Connecticut grabbed her Kodak Instamatic and fired off a snapshot. In that moment, a 400-year-old legend was re-born. Sandra unwittingly put the phenomenon of "Champ" -- Mystery of Lake Champlain, back in to the media spotlight.
