Comments:
This multi-part cache is located along the trail system that winds around the north end of High Point Lake. Suggested parking place is at N 036°00.569' W 079°56.549'. Be careful with kids and pets, the parking area is on a blind curve alongside a busy road. Expect to hike about a mile to a mile and a half total roundtrip hunting this multicache. Enjoy the scenery and the lake, it is also a popular place for folks to take their dogs for a hike and a swim.

Maps are queued for generation.

The name of this cache came to me after I observed many turtles on the logs along the lakeside parts of the trail.

The first cache is a micro cache. Coords there lead to the main cache, which is an ammo box. The initial contents of the box on 5/20/02 were:

  • A 4 foot long map of the Appalachian Trail (2,167 miles in length, Georgia to Maine)
  • A toy glider kit
  • A smiley-face beachball
  • A sealed bottle of Aquafina spring water
  • A scented candle
  • A squeaky dog toy

Terrapin Station

Inspiration, move me brightly. Light the song with sense and color;

Hold away despair, more than this I will not ask.

Faced with mysteries dark and vast, statements just seem vain at last.

Some rise, some fall, some climb, to get to Terrapin.

Counting stars by candlelight, all are dim but one is bright;

The spiral light of Venus, rising first and shining best,

On, from the northwest corner, of a brand new crescent moon,

While crickets and cicadas sing, a rare and different tune,Terrapin Station.

In the shadow of the moon, Terrapin Station.

And I know we'll be there soon, Terrapin Station.

I can't figure out, Terrapin, if it's the end or beginning, Terrapin.

While you were gone, these spaces filled with darkness

The obvious was hid.

With nothing to believe in, the compass always points to Terrapin
