These coordinates are for the Top of the Falls, not the cache.
Amicalola Falls is one of my favorite spots in the North Georgia Mountains. The setting is spectacular as well as the views. The Falls themselves are the highest in the United States East of the Mississippi. On top of that you have the approach trail to the start of the Appalachian Trail and the Foote Trail. I have placed this cache just off (fifty feet) a well-defined trail but not marked, i.e. no blazes. It is not on state park grounds. If you take the right approach you will not need to bushwhack; in fact you will only be about .2 of a mile away from its location. There are two ways to find this cache. Use a map and mark where all the surroundings caches are, draw a line using the distance and bearing I have provided. Where the lines meet there is the cache. Another way is to visit one of the listed caches and shoot a compass bearing and take off in that direction for that distance. The terrain on this cache can be as easy as a 2 or as hard as a 5 depending on which method you use and the approach you choose. Here are the near by caches you will need. North of cache: High Shoals Old Coin cache, bearing 318°, and distance .91 miles South of cache: Top of Amicalola Falls, bearing 230°, and distance 1.90 miles East of cache: Foote Steps cache bearing 093° and distance .22 miles West of cache: Uncle Mateson cache bearing 278° and distance 1.19 miles Now with these four points, you should be able to pin point the location. Cache is standard 50 cal ammo box |
