This cache is to honor the people who lost their lives in a tragic plane crash on Springer Mountain.
What you are looking for is a brass plaque in memory of these loved ones.
While at this site please observe a moment of silence in their honor.

How long the plane was on the mountain before it was removed

This location is on the approach trail to Springer Mountain from Amicalola. It is about half way up the trail or about 4 miles. You do not have to leave the trail.

Now if you want an EZ way, you can find the right FS road and drive all the way to this location with any SUV. I would not try it in a normal car mostly because of ground clearance but you might be able to.

The drive is very beautiful with great views.
