The "Heathrow" geocache is very near the airport and within easy walking distance of the Heathrow Bug Hotel cache hidden by Dave and Nicky. First you must go to the location above and look for the ticket which is near concealed. The ticket has the lat/lon location of the dark green plastic box, holding camera, log book and numerous "goodies". The box is well hidden in an ivy covered tree, but the ticket will give you an extra clue. This is an excellent area, found by Dave and Nicky. We hope they will plant some more caches near us :-)

Recently I've been looking for several caches that have been unfound for a long time - nearly half a decade in some cases. My expectations of their survival haven't been great, but so far I've been pleasantly surprised by the level of success. On this cold, crisp morning I would be half successful - I found the ticket but not the final cache.

I've been round this park several times before, but never previously found this part. For 10 minutes, while I looked for the ticket, the muggles obliged by keeping well away, giving me a free hand. And at the end of this time I was fairly convinced it was no longer here. The location had several hiding places that could have held a ticket, but instead contained old tins or bottles, and I suspected that the litter louts might have found the ticket and destroyed it. But, in the last place I looked, there it was :-)

I was greatly amused when the unexpectedly poetic subtlety of the initial hiding place was revealed, and this offered at least equal enjoyment to finding the cache itself :-) Which unfortunately I didn't do. At the final location there was a profusion of possible hiding places, most of them fitting the clue, and I spent a long time looking without exhausting them. That I didn't find it should not be taken as an indication it has gone, I think there is every chance it is still there, buried in the vegetation.

So, thanks for an excellent DNF, one I enjoyed more than many of my finds.
