Black Creek Park...You can find Entrance on Route 259, 1/2 mile south of route 33A This Cache is a .50cal ammo box (retired)containing a single use camera for you to take a picture of yourself or group. Also contains a Hitchhiker M&M Dude that I would like for any person who intends on placing a cache in the very near future to take back and place in that cache. I want to see how far I can get the fellow. If you can, please take a picture of him where you place him in his new location, then I will add that to the site when you send it to me. There are several other very nice items of great Interest as well as the Logbook. Please!...if you take an item I would be happy if you replaced it with another. Now the location... This cache is located within the "Black Creek Park". A very nice as well as large park with several trails that run you through some very nice scenic areas. Bring your family along on this one as there is a brand new play ground for the kids to use as well as ponds and a creek to do some nice fishing. If you wish to see more of the location and park contents visit this following link http://www.co.monroe.ny.us/parks/parkmaps/bcreek.gif I have included pictures of the cache as well as pictures to give you some good hints. I will mark the pictures that will help you a great deal in your search, so only look at those if you want clues! Some areas are a tiny bit wet at the time I placed this, so wear some light boots if you intend on searching. Nice easy walk and light Terrain. cache was named by my seven year old daughter! By the way...I was with a friend when this cache was placed and we completely filled two plastic Garbage Bags with bottles and cans on the way out ( Left one cache, Cleaned an Entire Area!) |

Open Log: Non-commercial use only Was a nice easy find which is what I needed to fit into a lunchtime walk. Always glad not too have to bushwhack too much at this park. The log had several entries for people who stumbled upon this cache. One from a benchmarker, multiples from orienteering people and one just stumbled onto it. Cache is still in good shape and hidden according to the clue. Thanks for the fun!

Since my usual trails are closed for hunting season (bleh) I had hoped to spend the day at Black Creek Park, walking and caching and taking pictures of birdies. My job had another set of plans for me, though, and I didn't get out as early as I'dhoped. I went after this cache right away and headed south to check out the multi's in another section - but I ran out of daylight and this was my sole cache of the day. No pictures, either, although I did see a gorgeous huge pileated woodpecker which was a first for me! Oh, yeah, the cache - found it easily enough and everything's in good shape. It's a pleasure to find a venerable cache such as this one in such fine shape. I took a popper thingy for safety's sake and left a special Disney promo item that I've been saving for a worthy cache. Thanks for giving me a chance to log a find despite the time constraints!

Strange: I headed for this NaviCache exclusive because the postings below indicated I'd missed this one over the years, yet as I dodged the raindrops in Black Creek Park, the route sure looked familiar. There was a freshly broken branch at the trail turnoff and a few yards in, I knew I had been here before. The ammo box seems to have moved a little deeper off the trail and my Garmin III+ read 90 feet. Look at my pic: there's a tree on the left side of the cache, just above my GPS. Look at Quinn's original pic: where's the tree? I opened the cache and saw that I had logged in exactly 4 years ago. Very strange.

Was in the area for a NYGO Board meeting and just HAD to try one of the cache offerings from the famous Quinn! Took the steep climb up the sledding hill, and found the cache easily after avoiding a group of teenagers in the area. Did a little clean-up on the cache by removing some old wrappers from previous swag and a couple inappropriate items, and replaced the ziplock bag for the logbook, Dropped in a few trade items to top the can back off and tucked it back in it's hiding spot.

Open Log: Personal use only We decided to try geocaching as a family activity. We picked this one to try first since we are familiar with the park, and it was named for a child (so, how hard can it be?). We decided the last 7 feet are the hardest, but after taking our eyes off the gps and looking around, it didn't take long to find the box. Thanks for a fun introduction to this great sport.

Open Log: Personal use only Found this one at about 3:45 pm. The cache is in good shape, but could use a new bag for the log. I didn't have any extras on me. You will probably be heading out there anyway. Took nothing... left a QSL. Nice hide for a beginner. Been awhile since anyone logged in. Newbies... make this one of your first.

I found this one pretty easily enough with just the coords since I left the printout in the truck.
I must have just missed the cub scouts ahead of me.
Took nothing, left two pairs of gloves.
After this I tried to go directly Hawthorne....what a mistake! :>(
Thanks for a fun hide Quinn!

With a housefull of grandkids on an Easter candy sugar high, decided to take the four oldest (6 to 11) and their dads on an after dinner cache hunt to burn off some energy. Set a goto on the MAP330 and let Andrew, the 11 year old lead the way. Found the cache easily, swapped three gold dollars for a golf ball, a CD, and a piece of barbed wire; I also took traveller Bernie to go in my next cache. The trip up the hill and back diminished my energy level significantly, but had no noticeable effect on the kids. Back home for coffee and dessert, and more jelly beans and Peeps for the kids (and more bouncing off the walls).

Open Log: Personal use only Clear, crisp morning - mid 40's - 9:30 AM. My 6 yr old was the first to find the cache after a little hint from mom. Enjoyed the walk up the hill and down the path. Took a crossword puzzle book and left some super balls. No single use camera so we took some shots of our own. Baby fell asleep in the back pack on the way back to the parking lot. Thanks for a good one.

This was our first geocaching adventure as a group. I am a den leader for Den 11, Pack 402 from Chili, New York. We happen to find your cache while trying to find the No Exit cache. Once we started out (and walked quite a ways) we decided to start looking for your cache. It was pretty easy to find & the kids had a blast. They had a fun time trying to find the cache once we got to the hiding area.

Pretty easy. I jogged most of the way from the parking lot to the cache. I search for the cache on the spur of the moment so didn't have any trinkets with me so I didn't take anything either. I signed the log book. The camera in the cache is at the end of the roll so if you want to get it developed...

Todays short tour hit Morgan's Adventure and Isabel's 1&2 in that order. Being Fathers Day, my daughter and son-in-law offered to join me on this cache hunt. Little did they know that my intentions were to use them to distract the skeeters as I signed the log books. In typical caching fashion we followed the GPS arrow straight to the cache. This route was an initiation for my guest to the excitment of forging their way through some of the best dense brush of the area. Soon mosquitos caught wind of the sweat and fresh blood from the scratches. While Road Kill was eager to find the cache, they were very delighted just to find a path. Once on the path they were off like bloodhounds. Soon I heard their cry: Huckle-Buckle-Bean-Stalk.
