Had enough of the noise, the pollution, and the hustle and bustle of the big city? Need to get away to relax a bit? Here's your opportunity to find a reprieve from city life and log a cache at the same time. Simply blast up to Buntzen Lake for some rest and relaxation.

Buntzen Lake is truly a sparkling jewel nestled snugly in the mountainous wilderness near Vancouver. There is a beautiful beach at the south end that can be very popular and crowded on any sunny weekend and a 10km trail circumnavigates the entire lake.

To reach this cache you'll either need to paddle a kayak or canoe, or hike around the lake on an easy hiking trail (there are a few steep spots along the way but they're very short). The cache is located approximately 150 meters from the main trail at a beautiful lakeside location that is perfect for a relaxed picnic lunch.

If you decide to paddle to the cache, you may also wish to find the Electric Wanderer cache by Greg and Val which is across the lake. There is a small beach at the entrance to a creek near the cache that is suitable for landing a paddle boat.

Canoe and kayak rentals are available at the Anmore Store located on Sunnyside Road at the entrance to the park. Their telephone number is (604)469-9928.

There are large parking areas at Buntzen Lake and parking is free of charge. Note that on busy summer weekends, the parking lots can be full by early afternoon. When the parking lots are at maximum capacity, the entrance gates are closed for the day.

Dogs are allowed at Buntzen Lake but must be on a leash when on the trail. There is a large off-leash area near the beach area at the south end of the lake.

Please note that I paddled a boat to this location and have no idea of the difficulty of the access from the main trail -- for this reason I've rated the terrain difficulty as a 5.

The cache is a camouflaged Lock & Lock container that contains only a logbook and pencil. No trading is necessary as the container is quite small. If you decide to leave something please make certain that the contents to not stop the lid from sealing properly.

Have fun and enjoy your trip to Buntzen Lake!
