Comments:
NOTE: As with other large lakes, Pitt Lake is subject to strong winds and waves which can make paddling dangerous. Be sure to check weather forecasts before venturing out to this cache and carry extra food and clothing with you in the event that inclement weather prohibits you from travelling.

Also note that access along the west shore to and from Grant Narrows is generally not possible due to falling tides that expose a large sandbar at the south end of the lake. You will need to travel along the east shore of the lake in the deepened channel.

We have not implemented maps outside of the U.S.A. ... YET!

This cache hunt will take you to a location slightly north of Defrauder Creek where an old abandoned steam powered donkey engine is rusting away above the high tide line.

While it is best to do this cache as part of an overnight trip (there is room for a single camping party at Defrauder Creek and more camping is available at the Osprey Creek North, and South Provincial campsites across the lake), it can be done as a very long day paddle.

The cache is in a small camo painted Lock & Lock container that is well hidden. The coords were taken over a period of an hour and should be very accurate. The cache contains only a logbook and pencil. Trading is not necessary but if you wish to leave a small item, please be sure that the container is not so full that it cannot seal properly.

Have fun and enjoy your trip to Defrauder Creek!
