This is such an interesting area. I took time on the way out to read all the informative signs. The last time I visited this site was I believe around 1982, a lot has changed. I took the watch for fastening to my backpack and also I removed the glass paper weight. I left a deer antler, a few band-aides, and a dollar in exchange. - Paleoman52

Today I decided to show Johmer and Karentinks (my grade-A #1 caching pals and the other half of our caching-semi (but we try) super-group Team Ramrod) some of the great caches on the east side of Letchworth. Since I hadn't found this cache yet, we decided to run off course just a little and enjoy the Mule Path.

This is a very beautiful and scenic spot. I enjoy hiking trials with a lil' bit of history on them, so reading the plaques along the way made for an educational and enjoyable walk. Also it was great seeing the remnants of the old canal and locks.

All in all it was a great day to be out and about caching, and I'm glad I finally got over to this cache. A great spot to get people to visit. I'm also temporarily dropping off my brother in the cache (since he found it!) as I decided today he would make a rather funny looking TB. Hahaha.

This was my first find ever! Had a great time, this cache was terrific for a first timer. Will definitely continue geocaching, I love it!

I walked right by the cache and never saw it. Smiley spotted it later. Never been over in this area. Cache in good shape. Thanks for the hide.

Cache is in great shape. There is a beaver dam close to the cache; the lodge is a few feet from the path. Also saw a hen wood duck and ten ducklings in the water above the dam. Saw the beaver a couple hundred yards upstream. TN/ left 2 batteries. Thanks for the history lesson.

:) Well this was my first Cache, I just moved back to NY from Flagstaff, AZ. I couldn't resist going out in this amazing weather we are having. I left my wife's purple turtle from HAWAII (it will give her insentive to get out and look for it) and took a token with www.cheesweasel.com on it. Had a blast - My dog Macy loved exploring the locks.

I was in the area visiting Team Dirtdog at thier offsite location and we wanted to get a few caches done, so this one was first on our list since it looked like the easiest to find. However, we didn't count on a near-total lack of satellite coverage which made the hunt a bit more challenging. We were in the area, at least, when we kept hearing this freaky noise - kind of a rushing, roaring sound that my friend thought might be a big animal and I thought was traffic over a steel bridge. Scary!
I finally got a fourth satellite to tell us that we were about 50 feet from the cache, so a quick poke through the woods and a dash to a likely-looking spot yielded the goods! I left the big Troll doll in a baggie and took the Pikachu/Togepi keychain. The strange sound grew closer as we swapped and signed. Just as I was stamping my stamp on the page, it came to me...that's the sound a hot air balloon makes! From the sound of it, there were several aloft.
We replaced the cache as well as possible and took off down the path to Deep Cut. After a few paces we were rewarded by the sight of a big orange balloon rising above the tree line not far away. Magical!

After spending the afternoon picking apples at a farm west of the park we swung around the south end of Letchworth and headed up the east side of the gorge. We were really not prepared to go cache hunting but we just couldn't pass up the opportunity.
We "huffed and puffed" our way up while little Evan flew up the hill. Not having paid any attention to the info other than the coordinates, I'm not sure we came in the right way but we did find ourselves in the cache area soon. twenty minutes later, we were about to give up and head out when I looked over (one more time) an area previously searched and HURRAY!! Found it.
Evan chose the brooch (he wants to wear it while playing Lord of the Rings) and we left two nice items, a Geocaching Story VHS tape taken from "Journalist's cache, 'tween Dysfunction and a Fall" in the adirondacks. After you have viewed the tape, please log on to the original cache site and let Mike know where it has moved on to (you take it to a new cache, like a travel bug). The other item is a CD of geocaching radio shows taken originally from a cache in W. Virginia by A46r. I thought these items would be of interest to all the cachers who will be attending the gathering coming up this weekend.
We left the cache in good condition and headed out to the car just as the sun was setting over the hills. A great addition to the day. Thanks for sending us there.

Brogan and I started early this morning on our way to Fawcow'ee Challenge. As we were heading down the road, we made a pitstop for this cache. I could not help noticing some great hiding spots alongside of the canal. Finding the cache was no problem in spite of the GPS pointing me to thorn bushes all the time ;-)

Did this one with Mr Mom and the Goo on the way home from camping the weekend at Letchworth for the picnic. It was a beautiful day for caching, sunny & cool. What a beautiful spot. We stopped along the trail and read about the history of the area and found the cache at 2:20pm. Left nothing, took nothing. Thanks so much, Gamma Kitt, for the cache and the wonderful weekend!

This one was kinda easy for me, since I grew up and live less than 1/2 mile away from this one :)
Was disappointed Sugar Magnolia is missing.... :(
My GPS gave me an elevation of 1108Ft at the cache....

Just got back from my 2nd visit with a friend and her son. Took the little red flashlight (we needed it to see :)), and left a couple candles.

This is the first time we've run into other cachers on the hunt, and we had a real nice chat with The Hikers. This trail is a real treasure, and thanks to geocaching we were able to experience it. Enjoyed reading all the historical markers, and we hiked further up the trail after finding the cache. This would be a good one to bring the kids to. Great adventure - thanks! Geo G and POG

We decide to stop and do this while driving by on the way to a hike. Another couple was there doing the same thing, so we each gave the other a chance to find the cache, but then we shared opening it. It was fun talking to other cachers.

The site is quite nice, especially with the nice informational displays they have about the canal, which most people are unaware ever existed. Thanks!

Braved the thorn apple trees, found the big path, and the little path, as well as the cache. Were a little hesitant to head into the thorny undergrowth where the GPS said it was. Interesting area. Left the golfing Santa and took the pedometer. Our daughter, cyberchemist took the felix cat. We took picture #5. The pix on the history markers showed that canal up on the east side of Letchworth near the current high railroad bridge. We walked that to the Lo and Behold cache. Didn't realize the railroad had replaced the canal. Wonderful how history flows and ties together. Thanks for a nice educational and short cache hunt. Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife).

Found it at as we were heading home for the day. Saw this on the GPS and realized we were on the road with the parking area heading in that direction. Found it at 7:40 pm our 9th cache of the day. Wish we had more time to explore a little more. We'll get back here. Took the skeleton necklace and left a plastic figure.

After finding Rattlesnake cache Bryan and I took gloria home and we
ventured on in the rain to find this one. We found it OK and called it a
day.We did`nt take time to do the senic thing. It was raining to hard!

What a nice day for the middle of February! About 40 degrees and no snow on the ground. Interesting trail. Enjoyed the historical markers. Will come back another day to go farther down the trail. Map 76 took us to within 12 feet. Actually a rabbit did. He ran out of the cache hidding spot and Donna spotted the cache. Signed the book,took our picture, took the compass and left a tire gauge. Thanks for a nice cache.

Surprize! Road Kill was here. This was my 3rd and last cache of the day. Swinging down from Cache Conesus, I also hit Rocky's Stony Brook. These locks are something. I never looked at them up close and always thought they were in rougher shape.
Warning! You may want to wear a heavy long sleeve shirt because there are these rose bush like vines that jump out into your path to slow you down.
Took a flash picture because it was starting to get dark, took a travelers tooth pick thingy and left a squirt gun and a bag of cowboys & indians.
Tired and headed for home, Road Kill is still grinning.

Well nice area. We never had been to this part of Nunda before. Was a learning experience.
Had a beautiful day and took a look around. Exchanged a few items and took a PIX of the group.
