The cache at Deer Rock was placed with the permission of Camp Coffman
Ministries. Please be advised that the woods are filled with slippery rocks,
high cliffs, pointy sticks, hungry bears, rattlesnakes and other hazards
normally found in nature. By attempting this cache, you assume total liability
and risk associated with this activity.

Start your journey by parking at N41* 18.996
W79*35.257.
There is a great spring here to get a cold drink of
water from.  Fill up, and enter the woods at the other side of the road.
Hike along the creek, and head to Deer Rock, at
N41* 19.469 W079*34.700.  Once you
have enjoyed the rock carvings, make the short climb to the cache location.

Cache is in a large black ammo can.  Read the spoiler, and look at the
spoiler pic before you kill yourself looking.  If you can't reach the cache
itself, you can still get full credit for this cache by posting photos of the
area with your GPS, you, your buddies..... whatever! Please hide the cache well when you are done

Believe it or not, but this is by far the easiest path to the area.  On
your way back, resist the temptation to cross the suspension bridge at N41*
19.080 W79*34.834.  The bridge is unsafe, and leads to Camp Coffman itself.
We wish to avoid disturbing the campers there.  My 4 year old son can make
this hike.  The terrain rating is due to the lack of a trail in places,
steep slopes, and tight crevices that must be negotiated.

This is a truely great cache! The days being short, and we being morons that are too dumb to aim at the easy ones, this ended up being the last of just four caches that we managed to get done up in Venango County today. There surely is some great caching to be had up this way and I can't wait to come back! We had some fun with this. I didn't realize that there wasn't going to be much of trail and ended up being very sorry that I didn't get new hiking boots for Christmas. My boots are completely shot which made for some interesting slipping and sliding up and down the little ravines at the beginning. The lack of a trail didn't make this hike one bit unpleasant, though, because the woods were very open until we reached the "suspension bridge of death" and the "ampitheatre that is no more" where we picked up the trail to Deer Rock. I have to say that's a cool rock! We thought that somebody must have had a lot of time on their hands to create that masterpiece! The climb up to the coordinates from there just about killed me. I'm way out of shape so this hike and the other caches really wore me down. Once again, DJ found this cache quickly without the benefit of the GPS. I'm glad that I brought DJ and AP along to retrieve and replace the cache because I'm not sure I could have climbed up there without injuring myself. We all signed the log and I left a TB that I recently picked up in SWPA. Thanks for hiding this and keeping it going, Ian! We had a blast! Johnny.
