"As pure a son of Liberty as I have ever known."
Thomas Jefferson wrote this about him when he heard of his passing. A mountain, a school, a bridge, numerous statues, these are a few of the ways he has been memorialized around the world. So who is he? Let your GPS guide you to the answer. To confirm your find, please email the owners the answer to these questions. 1. Who shrieked as he fell. 2. What does he hold in his left hand? 3. What animal sits on the Earth? **** PLEASE NOTE ***** The co-ordinates were ammended on 7/1/04. The initial co-ords obtained using our Etex Legend (N 38 44.006 W 077 02.182) generated maps from both MapQuest & LostOutdoors that appeared to be incorrect. I changed the figures so that the maps now lead you to a point closer to where the ststue is. It would be appreciated if someone could verify the co-ordionates using a diffenent GPS & let us know if there had been an error in recording the initial co-ords. Extra clue: it's the statue that's closest to Lafayette's. Thanks ********************** |

Was attempting another FTF during our "Virtual Tour" of DC, but seem to have missed out on this one by about 4 years. Car2 seemed to get to this only one year after it was published. Those "FTF hounds" that pounce on new caches as soon as their published, have their fun, I guess, but it's not for me.

Completed this wonderful virtual while we were on vacation in our Nations Capital. I have to say that when I got to the cache location I was surprised by who it was. I was actually expecting someone more well known, so I got a nice history lesson. Nice place and a great monument that I would never have seen if it weren't for geocaching. Thanks!
