If you have a few extra minutes, walk to the back of the park, look across Pennsylvania Avenue and you'll see the White House

Currently there is some construction in the area, but it should not affect access to the statue.

The co-ordinates were ammended on 7/1/04. The initial co-ords obtained using our Etex Legend (N 38 44.006 W 077 02.182) generated maps from both MapQuest & LostOutdoors that appeared to be incorrect. I changed the figures so that the maps now lead you to a point closer to where the ststue is.

It would be appreciated if someone could verify the co-ordionates using a diffenent GPS & let us know if there had been an error in recording the initial co-ords. Extra clue: it's the statue that's closest to Lafayette's.

Was attempting another FTF during our "Virtual Tour" of DC, but seem to have missed out on this one by about 4 years. Car2 seemed to get to this only one year after it was published. Those "FTF hounds" that pounce on new caches as soon as their published, have their fun, I guess, but it's not for me.

Seriously, this was one of about 25 Groundspeak, Navicache, and Terracahing virtuals my friend scrubjay1986 and I found today. It was the second of our three NC finds. Thanks! I will have to look up more information on this man.

Completed this wonderful virtual while we were on vacation in our Nations Capital. I have to say that when I got to the cache location I was surprised by who it was. I was actually expecting someone more well known, so I got a nice history lesson. Nice place and a great monument that I would never have seen if it weren't for geocaching. Thanks!

I tried e-mailing the owner with the answers but don't know if it got through or not. I still have the answers if you need them.
