Bring pen and ink pad.
The land along the Ohio and Scioto Valleys in the Portsmouth area were once well decorated with prehistoric Hopewell mounds. A series of interconnecting mounds once stretched for miles which started east of South Shore, KY and crossed the Ohio River to Portsmouth. An artist’s rendition of the network of mounds can be viewed at Portsmouth’s Floodwall Murals. Mound Park houses the Horseshoe Mound, which was located in the center of the network. In 1974 the mound became listed on the national register of historic sites, which unfortunately came to late for a matching horseshoe that was located a few hundred feet to the west. Like many other mounds in the area, this one was destroyed by narrow minded developers. Ironically, the western horse was destroyed for education. (You’ll know what I mean when you get there)

It wouldn't hurt to take a look at the step by step clues I have posted for this hybrid at www.letterboxing.org .
