Hidden with fellow cacher the Gar, this cache is located in the relatively new Sipsey Recreation Area in western Tuscaloosa County. The land was purchased by Forever Wild Alabama, which buys land much in the same way the Nature Conservanmcy does, setting it aside to be permanent natural areas. The Sipsey River is truly an Alabama treasure and we have always enjoyed canoeing, camping and fishing around it.
The cache is a fairly long walk but it's on trails and falt. The terrain rating comes from hordes of biting flies, swarms of mosquitos, poisonous plants, mud, periodic flooding, and many venomous snakes. My uncle saw 15 Cottonmouths just last week while he was here. The cahe contains a snake bite kit and insect repellent just in case. Please leave the repellent. |
