Yep. The name of the cache is correct. Amherst State Park, in beautiful Amherst, N.Y.

Don't look so confused; you've probably been there, or very nearby before. One of the oldest existing caches in the area, Glen Falls Aquaview (Navicache Waypoint: N000F6) is located just outside, or maybe even within the limits of the new State Park.

Amherst State Park was dedicated in opening ceremonies in May 2000, attended by Gov. George Pataki. It sits on 77 acres of land formerly owned by the Sisters of St. Francis Convent in Williamsville.

You can visit the Sisters of St. Francis website's section on Amherst State Park here: wmsvlfranciscans.org

The entrance to Amherst State Park is located at 400 Mill Street in Williamsville, and there is a large sign that you can't possibly miss. Park at N 42 Deg. 58.395' W078 Deg. 44.840'. The coords are near a little pull off near some port-a-johns, but you can park anywhere around the former convent building of the Sisters of St. Francis.

We have taken care to hide the cache in a low traffic area of the park, but we would strongly suggest heading .14 miles south of the cache area, where there is a nice footbridge over Ellicott Creek, and many creekside trails. There is even a small island that can be waded to without getting your feet too wet. The Glen Falls Aquaview cache is a mere 550 ft. from the foot bridge, and easily accessable using the existing trails.

There is also a large orchard here, where the Sisters grew their own fruit. And be sure to check out the planted pine forest near the cache, now 50 ft. tall pines neatly planted in rows; try getting GPS coverage in there!

The cache is a .30 cal ammo box, painted with UrkelflaugeŠ, and being kid-friendly, contains mostly items that would be of interest to children. Please trade fairly. Also please take care to re-hide the cache as you found it, the "cover" although large, is easily movable.

My first hat trick! (Why do they call three-times of anything a hat trick, anyway?). My third find of the day, this was also the hardest find I've come across yet. It took *forever* to find. I guess my idea of a 'large cover' is different than Mr. Urkel's - I was thinking/looking for LARGE! :P

I've been to this park many times before when my dog was younger and her legs could handle nice long walks... I've also been here when the convent was open for a church function - it was always enjoyable to come here. The pine forest was always my favorite place to go - it's like being in another world...

Someone or some people were burning logs nearby, but I found the cache OK after figuring out the correct side of the creek to be on. As I was walking away, some punk kids were walking towards that area. I can only suspect they were the ones burning stuff.

logging late....trying to catch up on all of our loggingof finds..thebumble, strangelittle girl, and poobaa accompanied me on our "family night' (ok, mom, if we have to..) but they ended up havign a great time..we did this in september when the apples were ripe and the deer were everywhere.. it was also right after the after effects of the hurricanes down south, i will try to download some pics...i have been there by myself since then and they have cleared eveything out pretty well...the trails were a mess! we did some CITO and moved on to the next! i spend a lot of time in this park in the summer, especially near the other side with the falls...even with delaware park in my back yard, this is my "sacred space..."I used to live at 30 mill street (just a few yrs ago), the blue house with the blue garage (look up above the falls) above the falls, before i left my husband...my neighbor and i would climb (rapell) down the escarpment at night and go swimming..(yes, i can even do rapelling!)(i'm an army girl in a barbie world)
ok, i will post pics when i have more time, files too big...

I've posted many notes at the other website, but this cache DID in fact survive the 4+ inches of rain Amherst received from the remnants of hurricane Frances. The cache was completely submerged for a while, but all is well.

Excellent, 2 navicache only logs on the page. I paid a maintenance visit to the cache the other day, here's the log from the other website cut and pasted:
Maintenance visit to snatch the full camera. Pics will not be scanned, but will be put in a photo album in the cache. No camera currently in the cache. Although under it's original "main" piece of cover, and concealed, the cache was at least 7-10 ft. from where it was originally placed. Please take care to replace the container exactly *where* and *how* you found it. (Not necessarily aimed at any recent finders, whom I'm sure did just that). Cache is quite full, but there are few what I would consider "quality trades"; trading down a cache is just a fact of life, no rants here. Thanks to all who have visited, and the old pics and a new camera will be coming soon.

What a lovely park and to think it's only just around the corner. Husband and I brought Spooky (our dog) for this enjoyable adventure. Grabbed a quick snack on wild raspberries along the way. Dog tried to go fishing...and boy, they were huge! Nice hide. Took Gecoache Compass and left behind 300 million year old fossil and source site brochure. Cache is very full but in good shape.

I think the cashe has been removed. What we found was a empty hole in the ground an a piece of driftwood that has been moved as the field has been recently cut. This was our first cache search but we are pretty sure we were in the right place. Would like to know if we are correct in thinking that the hole in the ground was the hiding place.

MrMom happened to be in the neighborhood during lunchtime so we snagged this one. It was just too beautiful a day to spend lunch indoors! I know this park well from my high school days. Was here for my reunion a couple years back too.
