The 2nd cache (the other is not listed on Navicache) in little known Amherst Veterans Canal Park, a 34.7 Acre town park that is mostly reclaimed farmland (protected wetlands).

The cache is so named as it is a screw top Hot Wheels container. Please trade only Hot Wheels or Matchbox, or similiar quality small die-cast cars. No dollar store garbage please. If dropping off new cars, please remove from packaging, the container isn't that large. Original contents = 15 Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars.

This winter accessable cache is very accessable from several locations:

The main parking area to the park at N43 03.875 W078 48.125

The cache "Stumpy" by Gary Dog (GCC951 on Geocaching.com)

A very small (probably 3 car) parking area along the Amherst Canal bike path on Tonawanda Creek Road near the intersection of Sweet Home Road at N43 03.362 W078 48.238

Terrain rating based on access from the park main parking area, which you may find locked during winter. If doing this cache alone, independent of "Stumpy", easiest access is definately from the small parking area, mostly along paved path.

No attempt has been made to camoflauge the brightly colored Hot Wheels container; please re-hide and cover the cache as you found it.

This was the first hunt where I actually had to come back because of muggles. I thought it was really weird that there was a car parked on the trail about 10 yards from the cache coordinates, but I went looking anyway. Of course when I was *right* there - right about the get the cache, two engineer-looking construction guys showed up and planted themselves by the car looking at blueprints or something <sigh>.

I went looking for the other cache I had scheduled myself for the day and came back. Thankfully, they were gone! Great hide - there were so many good places that could have been used...

Very good cache. Stuck with the theme and traded Hot Wheels cars. I think we parked at the wrong parking spot because we walked a half mile. Damn the bugs!

Parked at the little lot after driving right past it. Found the cache after searching for a few minutes, and going up and down the canal bank several times. The second set of coordinates were much closer than the originals. The trail just beyond this cache was extremely buggy with tiny little black bugs everywhere. I wish I could have left a Matchbox car, but they're all packed away someplace. If they ever get unpacked I shall return and drop a couple off. Left nothing and signed the log.

Our first find of the day. Batteries were running low on the GPS and had us bouncing around a bit. The shortest of us found it about 30 feet from our ground zero. Who new Amherst was this big? Took a hot wheels left a new one along with a million bucks and some dice. Upon review this was the toughest of 5 finds today. Note that the waste recepticle is missing from the suggested parking area but the main gates are open and the lot is plowed.

This marks our 7th of 10 caches in the Lockport area. We had just gotten done doing "stumpy". We headed down the path with our bikes. Gosh did those bikes ever save us time. We made through to the area in question. Again the GPS was jumping all around us. Then we spotted it! Nice place!! Bearcub signed the logbook and we traded an orange hotwheel for a purple trike.
