This is a micro cache on a nice easy trail which is also great if you have a mountain bike.
Old Iron is a remnant from the railroad which was originally built in the 1880's by Albert Lewis, a local entrepreneur who delivered ice from the Mountain Springs Lake in the Endless Mountains to urban markets. He sold his successful rail line to the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company (LRVV) who expanded the service to include lumber, leather goods and anthracite coal. LRVV was abandoned in 1963. Now the railroad bed is part of the Back Mountain Trail.

Open Log: Unrestricted I knew where the location was since I've volunteered for the trail ever since it was started. I even checked it out for a possible cache site, but got too busy to do one there - so thanks for doing such a nice cache. I'm gaining more experience with micros so this one actually wasn't hard for me. I had wanted a good walk this morning, so I did the entire 2.2 mile trail from Carverton Rd to Perry St and then back 2.2 miles again.

Well, I couldn't wait any longer!!! I had to get out while it was so warm tonight!! Plus, the thought of a fresh snow cache was just too appealing, so off I went. I found the cache quite quickly, even though I had the old coords and was off by about 25 feet. The name is enough to let you know what to look for.

Found this today after church.I just couldn't pass it up even if it was below 15 degrees out. Interesting hide, I was wondering about using one of these containers for a multi cache. I saw this object before and never realized it was part of the old railroad.
