This isn't a walk in the park!!! Bring lots of water and some good boots!!!
I was very surprised by the hike up to the top of this hill...it looks so plain from the bottom, but is so beautiful as you get closer to the top. I will tell you that there are trails all the way up. You just have to find them. Start by parking at N 41*11.115' / W 75*58.986'. You'll find the trail head behind the tennis courts. I've designed this cache to be a multi-level cache. I say multi-level because the first location is my usual resting point in getting to the final destination. One, because the trails are a little steep at points (especially if you're carrying a 30 pound baby!) and because of the view. I love to sit on the rocks and look out at the water on a calm day...it looks like glass. The second leg of the journey can be a relatively long one on the old train bed and then up the steep trails to the top, or it can be relatively shorter if you bushwack up the steep hill to the top. It's your choice and either way is very beautiful. Take a break at the top and enjoy the view. Quinn likes to sit on the large boulders and point down at the town below. You can also take a few extra minutes and search for Lizard Rock. I hope you like the hike...please bring a trash bag with you and cache in, trash out. Since discovering this area, I've tried to help out as best as I can, but there are alot of quad trails here and the locals can be quite trashy as they zip through the trails. Thanks and God Bless!!! Until next time... Trusty |

Hi Trusty: I did better the second time. I managed that maze of quad trails and found the first cache in no time. On the railroad bed, I hiked left, then right, found no trails going up, so I just bushwhacked straight up the mountain. It was very hot, humid, and the bugs were biting. I broke out on top - right next to the cache site and the flag.

What a great set of views on the way up! I must confess that I didn't do the suggested climb. I bypassed some of it. There was enough to do from the 1st cache to the final cache location. There were campers and vehicles in the reservoir area when I walked in there in the morning. As I kept taking breaks climbing, I was saying to myself that I was looking at the views, which kept getting better and better, and picking some of the low bush blueberries. When I got to the top I realized that I would have liked to stay there all day, but I had to get back to a committment that afternoon. The view is so wonderful and the place so peaceful. Thanks so much for putting a cache there (I said that after the climb!). I found an easier way back down. I forget what I took, but I left an Alaskan salmon magnet and a new pen. I also took out a plastic grocery bag of recyclables.
