The distance from the parking to the cache is just about 1/2 mile. You will be on a easy to follow service road however, the slope is steep and some might find it difficult. You will gain 629'.

Located on the south west face of Mount Cuyamaca, this area is rarely visited by the average hiker. It's out of the way and off the beaten path. From Descanso, find Boulder Creek Road and head north. Keep driving for about 20 minutes until Boulder Creek Road turns from asphalt to dirt. Drive another .8 miles and park at the road closed sign which secures the area from off road vehicles. ( N32 55.584 W116 37.877 , elevation 3727') Head up the power pole service road to the trees above.

DANG I missed the Monty Python Video by 1 cacher (not only am I a huge Tolkien fan, but I'm a huge Monty Python fan as well)

While working on getting ready to leave, repacking the truck, catching up on my email, etc. I got hungry so figured I'd run down to the little corner store here in Descano, grab some bread and then head out and hit the last of Rob and Catherine's caches in the area (well I skipped the poison oak madness one). Started hiking around 2:00 or so (yeah it was a little warm) and went to the viewpoint first. Then came back down to the cache. Took the computer game (look for it to turn up in my "what a long strange trip it's been" cache) and $3.00 (hey I'm poor) and left a bunch of baseball cards (sorry all my Padre cards are gone) and a brand new various artist music cd. Also dropped off a travel bug, upon getting to the bottom I remembered I had the rare creek bed cards to drop off and had left them in the truck.... dooohhh!!! Briefly thought of heading back up to place them but changed my mind.
